Wide-Field Mueller Polarimetry of Brain Tissue Sections for Visualization of White Matter Fiber Tracts [PDF]
Identification of white matter fiber tracts of the brain is crucial for delineating the tumor border during neurosurgery. A custom-built Mueller polarimeter was used in reflection configuration for the wide-field imaging of thick section of fixed human brain and fresh calf brain.

We previously reported a phenotype of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), CJD-MMiK, that could help identify iatrogenic CJD. To find cases mimicking CJD-MMiK, we investigated clinical features and pathology of 1,155 patients with diagnosed sporadic CJD or ...

A Research Framework for Virtual Reality Neurosurgery Based on Open-Source Tools [PDF]
Fully immersive virtual reality (VR) has the potential to improve neurosurgical planning. For example, it may offer 3D visualizations of relevant anatomical structures with complex shapes, such as blood vessels and tumors. However, there is a lack of research tools specifically tailored for this area. We present a research framework for VR neurosurgery

Frequency‐Dependent Demethylation of Cancer DNAs by High‐Power Terahertz Radiation
Effective demethylation of cancer DNA is successfully demonstrated by resonant irradiation with high‐power terahertz (THz) waves at the 10 mW level, combined with metamaterial‐based THz filters. The dependence of spectral filtering on demethylation indicates that the resonant frequency of 1.6 THz of cancer DNAs plays a crucial role in reducing the ...

Abstract Objective Childhood cancer and cancer‐related treatments disrupt brain development and maturation, placing survivors at risk for cognitive late effects. Given that assessment tools vary widely across researchers and clinicians, it has been daunting to identify distinct patterns in outcomes across diverse cancer types and to implement ...
