X‐Functionality–Driven Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a water‐based synthesis of 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 perovskite microcrystals with prominent photocatalytic (PC) activity for H2 production. The synergy between organic functionalization and HI‐derived iodide scavenges holes suppress octahedral distortion, and favor electron accumulation, enabling a PC H2 evolution ∼20 µmol·g−1 and long‐term stability ...

Generation of electron bunches at low repetition rates using a beat-frequency technique

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2007
Even at a continuous wave facility such as CEBAF at Jefferson Lab, an electron beam with long time intervals (tens of ns) between individual bunches can be useful, for example, to isolate sources of background via time of flight detection or to measure ...

Solution‐Processed Two‐Dimensional Indium Oxide on Sodium‐Embedded Alumina for Reconfigurable Optoelectronic Synaptic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wafer‐scale two‐dimensioanl In2Se3 oxidized into InOx on sodium‐embedded beta‐alumina enables multifunctional reconfigurable electronics. Sodium ions accumulate within distinct spatial distribution under drain‐controlle and gate‐controlled operation. Drain‐control operation gives controllability of ultraviolet‐driven optoelectronic synaptic conductance

FAST Drift Scan Survey for H i Intensity Mapping. II. Stacking-based Beam Construction of the 19-feed Array at 1.4 GHz

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Neutral hydrogen (H i ) intensity mapping (IM) presents great promise for future cosmological large-scale structure surveys. However, a major challenge for H i IM cosmological studies is to accurately subtract the foreground contamination.

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Phase-space characterization of negative ion beams for fusion

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Multi-grid, multi-aperture accelerators are used in ion sources of neutral beam injectors (NBIs) for fusion. Accelerators are typically optimized by numerical tools, usually taking the e-fold divergence as a valuable global indicator of the single ...

Study on influence of propellant flow rate on ECR ion source beam current

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao
The electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion source with grid inlet has the characteristics of low propellant supply pressure and no cathode required for operation, so it has the potential for application in atmosphere breathing electric propulsion.

Demonstrating Vibrational Current Generation With a Self‐Assembled Bioelectret

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Vacuum‐deposited films of the plant‐derived molecule, Baicalein, form a self‐assembled bioelectret exhibiting spontaneous orientation polarization and a giant surface potential. The films induce alternating current during the vibration of a movable electrode without charging treatments. Hydrocarbon protection enhances the air stability of the Baicalein

Overview of fast particle experiments in the first MAST Upgrade experimental campaigns

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
MAST-U is equipped with on-axis and off-axis neutral beam injectors (NBI), and these external sources of super-Alfvénic deuterium fast-ions provide opportunities for studying a wide range of phenomena relevant to the physics of alpha-particles in burning
