Neutral density revisited

Deep Sea Research Part II: Topical Studies in Oceanography, 1999
Abstract The possibilities of defining and computing an approximately neutral density variable are reexamined in this paper. There are three desirable properties that a neutral density variable should possess. Firstly, the isosurfaces of this variable should coincide with (approximately) neutral surfaces.

The Materiality and Neutrality of Neutral Density and Orthobaric Density

Journal of Physical Oceanography, 2009
Abstract The materiality and neutrality of neutral density and several forms of orthobaric density are calculated and compared using a simple idealization of the warm-sphere water mass properties of the Atlantic Ocean. Materiality is the value of the material derivative, expressed as a quasi-vertical velocity, following the motion of ...

The density dependence of neutral hydrogen density and neutral hydrogen emission from PLT

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1987
The efflux of atoms with energies greater than 10 eV from tokamaks results primarily from charge exchange. This flux is useful as a diagnostic of plasma properties such as particle transport, particle confinement, power balance, neutral density, and ion temperature.

Local Neutral Density Enhancement by Streaming Neutral Gas Injection

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2006
An array of nozzles arranged in a bicycle-wheel spoke pattern designed to create a region of high neutral gas density in an H- ion source was tested for its capability to generate a pressure gradient in a vacuum chamber. An experimental setup was designed and built to measure the local pressure around the nozzle array.

Risk-Neutral Densities: A Review

Annual Review of Financial Economics, 2018
Trading in options with a wide range of exercise prices and a single maturity allows a researcher to extract the market's risk-neutral density (RND) over the underlying price at expiration. The RND contains investors’ beliefs about the true probabilities blended with their risk preferences, both of which are of great interest to academics and ...

Transition Densities for Neutral Multi-Allele Diffusion Models

Biometrics, 1975
Kimura [1955, 1956] partially solved the problem of finding the transition density function which describes the behavior of a diffusion model for evolution at one genetic locus with many neutral alleles. We complete the solution using a system of polynomials biorthogonal to polynomials suggested by Appell [1881] as generalizations of Jacobi polynomials.
