Landau constant of plane Poiseuille flow near the neutral state
The Physics of Fluids, 1987Two kinds of nonlinear stability theories are examined, Herbert’s method [J. Fluid Mech. 126, 167 (1983)] and that of Watson [J. Fluid Mech. 9, 371 (1960)]. They are compared by calculating the first Landau constant of plane Poiseuille flow numerically according to their definitions.

Nanotechnology, 2017
To protect brittle layers in organic photovoltaic devices, the mechanical neutral plane strategy can be adopted through placing the brittle functional materials close to the neutral plane where stress and strain are zero during bending. However, previous research has been significantly limited in the location and number of materials to protect through ...

Selective in-plane nitrogen doping of graphene by an energy-controlled neutral beam
Nanotechnology, 2015Nitrogen-doped graphene promises to improve current electronic devices, sensors, and energy-based devices. To this end, the bonding states between carbon and nitrogen atoms can be manipulated to tailor the properties of the doped graphene. For example, graphitic nitrogen is known to promote desired catalytic activities in graphene fuel-cell systems ...

Forces on a neutrally buoyant disk in plane parabolic shear flow
Zeitschrift für angewandte Mathematik und Physik ZAMP, 1980A two-dimensional calculation of the force acting on a neutrally buoyant circular disk in the plane of an infinite parabolic shear flow profile is made in the creeping flow approximation.

Neutrality of an elliptical inhomogeneity in finite plane elastostatics of harmonic materials
Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids, 2016We examine the neutrality of an elliptical inhomogeneity embedded in a particular class of compressible hyperelastic materials of harmonic type when a uniform Piola stress field is prescribed in the surrounding matrix. The present method is based on a spring-type imperfect interface model and on the proper choice of imperfect interface function, which

The neutral curves for periodic perturbations of finite amplitude of plane Poiseuille flow
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1969It is shown that there exist undamped solutions for perturbations of finite amplitude of plane Poiseuille flow, which are periodic in the direction of the axis of the channel. The shift in the ‘neutral curve’ as a function of the amplitude λ* of the disturbance is shown in figure 2.

Partial discharge propagation in concentric neutral power cable over a ground plane
Conference Record of the the 2002 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation (Cat. No.02CH37316), 2003Computation of partial discharge signal propagation along power cables with concentric neutral wires and ground plane is investigated. A distributed RLC network model of the cable is formed to simulate this phenomenon. The electromagnetic parameters of the power cable are calculated with a finite element method.

Optimum neutralization of negative space charge in the parallel-plane diode
IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1991Poisson's equation, a third-order differential equation, is formulated for the steady-state flow of electron current in a parallel-plane diode with an arbitrary distributed source of positive ions throughout the interelectrode region. Solutions are obtained for one particular class of ion distribution, and there is no upper limit to the electron ...
