On the existence of neutral directions of the normal gravity field

open access: yesContributions to Geophysics and Geodesy, 2014
A neutral direction of a gravity field is a direction along which the components of the gravity vector remain locally unchanged. A neutral point is a point at which there exists a neutral direction.

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Modified Predictive Control Method of Three-Level Simplified Neutral Point Clamped Inverter for Common-Mode Voltage Reduction and Neutral-Point Voltage Balance

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Three-level simplified neutral point clamped (NPC) inverters are studied due to lower harmonics and fewer switching devices. Nevertheless, this topology needs to obtain neutral point (NP) voltage balance through either control or modulation methods.

Magnetoresistance Measurements of Graphene at the Charge Neutrality Point

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2012
We report on transport measurements of the insulating state that forms at the charge neutrality point of graphene in a magnetic field. Using both conventional two-terminal measurements, sensitive to bulk and edge conductance, and Corbino measurements, sensitive only to the bulk conductance, we observed a vanishing conductance with increasing magnetic ...

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

From junk to function — How weak selection in eukaryotes builds new parts and drives genomic complexity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How do genomes gain new functional parts? In eukaryotes, which tend to evolve under weak selection, much of the genome is junk. Palazzo and Qiu borrow the logic of Markov chains to show how non‐functional DNA becomes functional through the appearance of intermediate states, which arise due to epistasis, buffering, and biochemical messiness, allowing ...

DC-link voltage ripple compensation for multilevel active-neutral-point- clamped converters operated with SHE-PWM

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents a dc-link voltage ripple compensation method for flying-capacitor (FC)-based active neutral- point-clamped multilevel converters operating under selective harmonic elimination pulsewidth modulation.

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.
