Average Neutral Point Current Control Strategy in Neutral-Point-Clamped Converters
2021 IEEE 12th Energy Conversion Congress & Exposition - Asia (ECCE-Asia), 2021A control strategy for regulating the average neutral point (NP) current in neutral-point-clamped (NPC) converters is proposed in this paper. Previously presented strategies in the literature control the instantaneous NP current. However, the instantaneous maximum NP current profile is time-varying, which results in difficulties to regulate the average

Active Neutral-Point-Clamped Multilevel Converters
IEEE 36th Conference on Power Electronics Specialists, 2005., 2006This paper proposes a multilevel power conversion concept based on the combination of neutral-point-clamped (NPC) and floating capacitor converters. In the proposed scheme, the voltage balancing across the floating capacitors is achieved by using a proper selection of redundant switching states, and the neutral-point voltage is controlled by the ...

Design Considerations for Neutral Point Clamped Converters
IEEE International Conference on Electric Machines and Drives, 2005., 2005Despite the growing proliferation of three level converters, practical design guidelines for these systems are not readily available. This paper describes such design guidelines for the construction and control of three level converters. Loss equations that assist in thermal design and device sizing are provided along with current estimates for sizing ...

Hybrid Modulation Technique for the Neutral-Point-Clamped Converter
2007 Compatibility in Power Electronics, 2007This paper presents a hybrid modulation technique for the three-level neutral-point-clamped converter. A modulation strategy that was presented previously is able to remove completely the low frequency voltage oscillations that appear on the neutral point for some operation conditions.

Active-neutral-point-clamped (ANPC) multilevel converter technology
2005 European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2005This paper proposes a multilevel power conversion concept based on the combination of neutral-point-clamped (NPC) and floating capacitor converters. In the proposed scheme, the voltage balancing across the floating capacitors is achieved by using a proper selection of redundant switching states, and the neutral-point voltage is controlled by the ...

An Interleaved Active Neutral-Point Clamped Nine-Level Converter
2020 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2020With the increasing proportion of photovoltaic power generation in the power structure, the demand for affordable grid-connected photovoltaic power generation is becoming increasingly urgent. Using 1500V photovoltaic module can effectively reduce the cost and loss of cable in photovoltaic power plant, which is very important for the early realization ...

Three-Leg Fault-Tolerant Neutral-Point-Clamped Converter
2007 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2007This paper presents a study of the fault tolerance capacity of a neutral-point-clamped (NPC) converter. Furthermore, two possible solutions are presented. In these solutions, adding a reduced number of additional components, the behavior of the converter when a switch fails improves considerably.

Novel 3-level Hybrid Neutral-Point-Clamped Converter
IECON 2011 - 37th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2011This paper introduces a novel 3-level Voltage Source Converter (VSC) as an alternative to known 3-level topologies, including the conventional Neutral-Point-Clamped Converter (NPCC), many T-type VSCs, and Active NPCC. It is shown that operating in the low converter DC-link voltage range, this new solution can achieve not only higher efficiency than ...

Performance Evaluation of Fault-Tolerant Neutral-Point-Clamped Converters
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2010This paper presents a study of the fault tolerance capacity of a neutral-point-clamped converter. Different faults in power semiconductors are considered, and the available postfault states of the converter are shown. In regard of the operation limits, two possible solutions are presented.

Dual Flying Capacitor Active-Neutral-Point-Clamped Multilevel Converter
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2016Hybrid multilevel converters combine features of conventional multilevel topologies to provide an acceptable tradeoff between the advantages and disadvantages of these converters. For many industrial applications, common dc link is a requirement that limits the choice of topologies to neutral point clamped (NPC) and flying capacitor multicell (FCM ...
