Defect Analysis of the β– to γ–Ga2O3 Phase Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of defects at all the relevant stages of the β$\beta$‐ to γ$\gamma$‐Ga2O3 polymorph transition is investigated using a multi method approach. The positron annihilation spectroscopy based results show that the defect density decreases after the transition, and that changes in defect configuration within the γ phase occur with increasing ...

Solar wind-magnetosphere coupling and the distant magnetotail: ISEE-3 observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
ISEE-3 Geotail observations are used to investigate the relationship between the interplanetary magnetic field, substorm activity, and the distant magnetotail.

The Influence of the Atmospheric Stability Conditions on the Available Wind Energy for Three Libyan Coastal Cities

open access: yesSolar Energy and Sustainable Development, 2017
The lowest portion of the atmosphere is vital to lives, infrastructure, and activities. It means air quality, air motion and momentum, solar and wind energy, and weather safety measures. Wind speed observations at three different heights for three Libyan

CO2 Reduction on Copper‐Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon Catalysts Tuned by Pulsed Potential Electrolysis: Effect of Pulse Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that pulsed potential electrolysis significantly improves CO2 reduction performance on copper‐nitrogen doped carbon electrodes. The formation of cationic copper sites and metallic clusters as a function of applied intermittent potential leads to notable selectivity changes compared to potentiostatic reduction.

Fabry-Perot interferometer observations of sustained strong vertical wind activity in the auroral thermosphere

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
The vertical component of the neutral wind velocity is critical for understanding the thermospheric dynamics at high latitudes. The neutral vertical wind circulation, driven by auroral activity, redistributes heat and momentum within the lower and upper ...

Large Anomalous and Topological Hall Effect and Nernst Effect in a Dirac Kagome Magnet Fe3Ge

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fe3Ge, a Kagome‐lattice magnet, exhibits remarkable anomalous Hall and Nernst effects, with transverse thermoelectric conductivity surpassing or comaprable to some well‐known ferromagnets. First‐principles calculations attribute these to Berry curvature from massive Dirac gaps. Additionally, topological Hall and Nernst signals emerge from field‐induced

Ionic Control of Microstructure and Lubrication in Charged, Physically Cross‐Linked Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, charged, physically cross‐linked poly(methacrylamide‐co‐methacrylic acid) hydrogels stabilized by a short‐range attractive, long‐range repulsive potential is investigated. This work uncovers how salt addition alters not only swelling, but also the microstructure and dynamics, near‐surface stiffness and charge, and ultimately, its lubricity. Salts

RESPONSE OF THE NEUTRAL WIND TO INTENSE GEOMAGNETIC STORMS

open access: yes, 2019
Perturbations of the ionosphere related to geomagnetic storms have been an object of a close attention of ionospheric researchers for several decades and therefore are relatively well known. Effects of geomagnetic storms to atmospheric parameter have been studied.
