Neutral wind measurements over Waltair using meteor wind radar
Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1981Abstract A coherent pulse Doppler Radar System at Waltair (17°43′N, 83°18′E) has been used to measure neutral winds in the altitude range 80–110 km. Preliminary results obtained during July and August 1979 are presented. The diurnal component is found to be the dominant tidal mode for most of the time.

Initial 3-D neutral polar wind
Advances in Space Research, 2006Abstract The high-latitude polar-cap region is a highly dynamic region with many interesting phenomena associated with it, including the ion and neutral polar winds, plasma patches, polar holes, etc. To elucidate these phenomena and the neutrals produced via charge exchange associated with them, a new 3-D high-latitude hydrodynamic model of the polar-

Abstract The Navier-Stokes equations are solved by introducing a statistical model of density and a distinct temperature model. The non-linear terms of inertia and the viscous term are not included. The computations have been made for equinoctial conditions at a height of 300 km and at different latitudes.

Neutral winds and electrojet irregularities
Journal of Geophysical Research, 1975The influence of the neutral winds on charged particle motions in both the equatorial and the auroral electrojet region is studied as a causal mechanism of the phase velocity change of electrojet irregularities. It is found that although the way they are affected is quite different, both electrons and ions undergo the same velocity change in the ...

Correlations between neutral and ionized solar wind
Advances in Space Research, 2005Abstract We report results of a statistical study correlating ionized solar wind (ISW) fluxes observed by ACE during late 2000 and throughout 2001 with neutral solar wind (NSW) fluxes observed by IMAGE/LENA over the same period. The average correlation coefficient between the neutral and ionized solar wind is 0.66 with correlations greater than 0.80 ...

110 km neutral zonal wind patterns
Planetary and Space Science, 1974Abstract In the height range between 105 and 115 km sporadic E formation is due exclusively to the zonal (E-W) neutral winds and both theory and experiment indicate sporadic E will occur very close to a reversal point of this zonal wind. By studying the observed heights of sporadic E-layers from a global distribution of stations we can deduce some of

Neutral Solar Wind evolution during solar cycle
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1996Expected evolution of the fluxes of the H and He components of the Neutral Solar Wind (NSW) during the solar cycle is discussed. A newly-developed, time-dependent model takes into account the typical solar cycle-related variations of the ionization rates as well as modulations of the neutral gas distribution which affect the NSW production in the ...

Wind-induced fatigue of structures under neutral and non-neutral atmospheric conditions
Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 2007Abstract The authors of this paper have carried out a wide research project aimed at determining the wind-induced fatigue of structures, hypothesising the wind field as neutrally stratified, as it is typical of evaluations addressed to ultimate loading conditions.

Now we will briefly discuss some effects of the neutral-air winds a) on the dynamical behaviour of the ionospheric F-layer and b) on some features of the neutral atmosphere.

Abstract Atmospheric conditions vary on the basis of the local thermal stratification, giving rise to stable, unstable or neutral atmospheric conditions, that can modify the incoming wind field and the consequent structural loads and response. This paper studies the problem from two points of view.
