Non-isothermal CO2 electrolysis enables simultaneous enhanced electrochemical and anti-precipitation performance

open access: yesNature Communications
Electrochemical conversion of CO2 into fuels represents an important pathway for addressing the challenges of climate change and energy storage. However, large-scale applications remain hindered by the instability and inefficiency of CO2 reduction ...

Excellent magnetic properties obtained in planar flow casting Fe-6.5 %Si steel via low strain cold-rolling and annealing

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Planar flow casting (PFC) has been applied to prepare Fe-6.5wt. %Si ultra-thin ribbons with a strong 〈001〉 fiber texture. However, critical issues such as fine grain size and large surface roughness are vital to overcome.

Enhanced Terahertz Thermoelectricity Via Engineered Van Hove Singularities and Nernst Effect in Moiré Superlattices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Moiré band engineering in graphene/hexagonal boron nitride–based superlattices unlocks van Hove singularities (VHSs) for terahertz (THz) optoelectronics. Tuning the Fermi level near these singularities, associated with secondary neutrality points (SNPs), enhances the photothermoelectric response.

Interpretable material descriptors for critical pitting temperature in austenitic stainless steel via machine learning

open access: yesnpj Materials Degradation
Austenitic stainless steel is renowned for its exceptional corrosion and mechanical properties, yet it remains susceptible to localized corrosion, such as pitting in the presence of aggressive ions or/and extreme environmental conditions.

Performance study of self-supported Bi catalysts regulated by electrodeposition for electrochemical CO2 reduction to formate

open access: yes工程科学学报
This study developed a high-performance electrocatalyst for the electrochemical reduction of CO2 to formate, thereby promoting CO2 resource utilization and contributing to carbon neutrality. A self-supported bismuth (Bi) metal catalyst was fabricated via

Actuarial neutrality across generations applied to public pensions under population ageing: effects on government finances and national saving [PDF]

open access: yes
In welfare states, collective saving has declined to a persistently negative level, while reduced fertility and increasing longevity are leading to increasing pension liabilities.

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

"Net Neutrality," Non-Discrimination and Digital Distribution of Content Through the Internet

open access: yes
The vast majority of US residential consumers face a monopoly or duopoly in broadband Internet access. Up to now, the Internet was characterized by a regime of "net neutrality" where there was no discrimination in the price of a transmitted information ...

Antitrust, Regulation and the Neutrality Trap: A plea for a smart, evidence-based internet policy. CEPS Special Report No. 104/April 2015 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
When they look at Internet policy, EU policymakers seem mesmerised, if not bewitched, by the word ‘neutrality’. Originally confined to the infrastructure layer, today the neutrality rhetoric is being expanded to multi-sided platforms such as search ...

Receptor‐Free Identification of Toxic Gases Enabled by Hygroscopic Aqueous Salt Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Water as a gas sensor coating sounds impossible—until it stops evaporating. Here, hygroscopic salt solutions (LiCl, LiBr, H3PO4) form non‐drying aqueous films on CNT chemiresistors under ambient air. Gases partition into these liquid layers, sometimes transforming into water, and generate salt‐specific resistance fingerprints across a four‐channel ...
