Neutral-neutral reactions in the chemistry of interstellar clouds

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1994
Recent experimental data on neutral‐neutral reactions have been included in two large‐scale, pseudo‐time‐dependent models of a cold, dense interstellar cloud. The inclusion of reactions involving CN and C atoms has the effect of reducing the calculated abundances of many complex organic molecules from those calculated in previous models, such that it ...

Neutral-Neutral Reactions

2011
A neutral-neutral reaction is a chemical reaction that occurs in collisions between atomic or molecular species that carry no electrical charge. Because of the extremely low gas densities that characterize even the densest regions of the ▶ interstellar medium, it is only necessary in this environment to consider bimolecular reactions that occur in ...

Ion-neutral reactions

Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1961
Abstract Since the rate coefficients for exoenergetic ion-neutral metatheses are of the order of 10−9 cm3 sec−1, they dominate in controlling the positive ion composition of the ionosphere. Under a reasonable set of assumptions, an equation is derived relating the degree of nitrogen dissociation to the ionic composition. From this relationship, it is

The neutral‐red reaction

Journal of Morphology, 1930
AbstractA general survey of the reaction of neutral red upon a selected series of living animal organisms is made, and the rationale indicates that neutral red is an indicator of proteolytic enzyme action, whether this be intra‐ or extracellular. Cellular hydrolytic and cellular synthetic systems are thus manifested.

Ion-Neutral Reactions

1990
Experimental studies of ion-neutral reactions are often carried out with specific applications in mind, for instance atmospheric or laser plasmas. Well-developed experimental methods are available in the form of flow tubes, ion-cyclotron resonance methods, ion drift tubes, and ion beam techniques, all of which have been employed extensively.

Cyclen-catalyzed Henry reaction under neutral conditions

Tetrahedron Letters, 2010
A convenient cyclen-catalyzed Henry reaction of aldehydes with nitroalkanes under mild and neutral conditions is reported. This procedure constitutes the first cyclen-catalyzed synthesis of nitroalcohols and is adapted to the condensation of both aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes with nitromethane in THF at room temperature without addition of ...

Photo-Fenton Reaction at Near Neutral pH

Environmental Science & Technology, 2009
The photo-Fenton reaction, oxidation of photoproduced ferrous iron by hydrogen peroxide, produces reactive oxidants that may be important to degradation of biologically and chemically recalcitrant organic compounds in surface waters at circum-neutral pH. Sufficient Fe(II) for the photo-Fenton reaction was produced in situ at two field sites (pH 6.1-7.1)

Catalytic Phosphite Hydrolysis under Neutral Reaction Conditions

Inorganic Chemistry, 2018
Cationic phosphametallocene-based platinum(II) aqua complexes were used as efficient precatalysts for the hydrolysis of aromatic and aliphatic tertiary phosphites under neutral reaction conditions at room temperature, leading to the selective cleavage of one P-O bond of the phosphite.

Neutrino neutral current reactions in 12C

Annals of Physics, 1985
The differential and total cross sections for the nuclear reaction νμ + 12C (g.s) → 12C∗ (1+; T = 1, 15.1 MeV) + νμ are investigated for values of 50 ≤ Eνμ ≤ 300 MeV. An effective Hamiltonian for the above nuclear reaction is constructed from the neutrino-quark neutral current weak interaction, by first constructing the neutrino-nucleon neutral current
