The Neutrino

Physics Today, 1948
The neutrino is a hypothetical particle which was proposed by Pauli a number of years ago, mainly to save the principle of the conservation of energy in beta-decay.

Atmospheric neutrino data and neutrino oscillations

Physical Review D, 1993
Several calculations of the upward throughgoing and stopping muon fluxes produced by atmospheric, or cosmic ray, neutrinos interacting in the material surrounding underground detectors are compared and the uncertainties in the calculations estimated.

Mixing of a heavy neutrino with the electron neutrino

Physical Review D, 1985
We show that recent monojet searches in electron-positron annihilation experiments can be used to extend significantly the limits on the mixing of a massive fourth-generation neutrino with the electron neutrino. When combined with other limits from hadron decays and secondary-vertex searches in hadron and electron-positron annihilation experiments ...

Neutrino oscillations and the solar-neutrino problem

Physical Review D, 1987
The values of neutrino masses and mixing angles which are required by the Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein (MSW) solution to the solar-neutrino problem are found from analytic solutions to the neutrino propagation equations in the Sun. They coincide with those obtained through extensive numerical computations by Rosen and Gelb.

Solar neutrino observations and neutrino oscillations

Physical Review D, 1990
The results of recent Kamiokande-II and {sup 37}Cl solar-neutrino experiments are quantitatively analyzed assuming the Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein solution to the solar-neutrino problem. It is found that the parameter region known as the large mass'' solution to the solar-neutrino problem is disfavored by a little more than 1 {sigma} while the small ...

Neutrino oscillations in dense neutrino gases

Physical Review D, 1993
We consider oscillations of neutrinos under conditions in which the neutrino density is sufficiently large that neutrino-neutrino interactions cannot be neglected. A formalism is developed to treat this highly nonlinear system. Numerical analysis reveals a rich array of phenomena.
