Abstract This paper describes the main features of the proposed low energy solar neutrino detector Borexino, planned to be installed at the Gran Sasso Laboratory. This real time detector is based on a massive, calorimetric, liquid scintillation spectroscopy technique, whose high luminosity is the base for the attempt to achieve a low signal detection

Salt neutrino detector for ultrahigh-energy neutrinos
Physics of Atomic Nuclei, 2004Rock salt and limestone are studied to determine their suitability for use as a radio-wave transmission medium in an ultrahigh energy (UHE) cosmic neutrino detector. A sensible radio wave would be emitted by the coherent Cherenkov radiation from negative excess charges inside an electromagnetic shower upon interaction of a UHE neutrino in a high ...

Solar flares and neutrino detectors
Physical Review Letters, 1988Solar flares have been suggested as the cause of occasional high counting rates in the $^{37}\mathrm{Cl}$ solar-neutrino experiment. The sensitivity of neutrino detectors to flares is evaluated. Several neutrino detectors will show large signals when prominent flares are observed electromagnetically, if flares are detected in the chlorine experiment.
