Neutrino oscillations [PDF]

open access: yesProgress in Particle and Nuclear Physics, 2013
This review summarizes recent experimental and theoretical progress in determining neutrino mixing angles and masses through neutrino oscillations. We describe the basic physics of oscillation phenomena in vacuum and matter, as well as the status of solar, reactor, atmospheric, and accelerator neutrino experiments that probe these phenomena.

Solar-neutrino oscillations

Physical Review Letters, 1985
The theory of oscillations of solar neutrinos is developed as it applies to the electron-recoil spectrum in neutrino-electron scattering. The spectral information obtained by such measurements (as opposed to counting total event rates) is crucial for allowing observation of neutrino oscillations for masses down to 500 neV.

Economical neutrino oscillation

Physical Review Letters, 1991
We consider pseudo-Dirac-type neutrinos with Majorana masses which are smaller than their Dirac ones. It is shown that there are two possible kinds of resonant neutrino oscillations for each generation, whose interplay provides an economical way to solve the puzzles of solar and atmospheric neutrinos simultaneously.

Neutrino oscillations

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2002
The wave theory of light, and in particular the principle of interference, was formulated by Thomas Young in 1801. In the 20th century, the principle of interference was extended to the quantum mechanical wave functions describing matter. The phenomenon of quantum mechanical interference of different neutrino states, neutrino oscillations, has provided
