The Oxidized Ti2(Al/Sn)C Behavior as Anode for Lithium‐ and Sodium‐Ion Batteries: The Role of the MAX Phase Order

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
The present study is dedicated to investigation of the performance of oxidized Ti2(Al/Sn)C system (211 MAX phases) as anode for lithium and sodium ion batteries. Their behavior has been rationalized as function of the tin content and as function of the MAX phase order, with detailed comparison with the 312 MAX phase analog series.

Deciphering Transition Metal Diffusion in Anode Battery Materials: A Study on Nb Diffusion in NbxTi1−xO2

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Demand for fast‐charging lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) has escalated incredibly in the past few years. A conventional method to improve the performance is to chemically partly substitute the transition metal with another to increase its conductivity.

The Ascent of Supramolecular Polymers and Gels in Asymmetric Catalysis

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
Supramolecular polymers and gels, formed by the spontaneous assemblies of small molecules through various types of non‐covalent interactions, are attractive materials for many applications. Their modularity also offers many opportunities in asymmetric catalysis, that have been tackled in the last two decades and more intensively in the last one.

Crystal Structure of Carbonic Acid (H2CO3) at  Elevated Pressures from Single Crystal Diffraction

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
Single crystals of carbonic acid (H2CO3) were synthesized in a laser‐heated diamond anvil cell at moderate pressures between 5‐13 GPa by reacting H2O with CO2. Its monoclinic crystal structure (P21/n with Z = 4) has been obtained from synchrotron single crystal X‐ray diffraction experiments at ~8 GPa.

Proton first: rationalizing a proton transfer in a protein‐fragment complex

open access: yesChemMedChem, Accepted Article.
We present a combination of experimental and theoretical approaches to decipher the molecular recognition event of benzoic acid complexed with Protein Kinase A. The publicly known crystal structure suggests the protonated form of benzoic acid to be complexed with Protein Kinase A.
