Neutron lifetime puzzle and neutron–mirror neutron oscillation [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal C, 2019
The discrepancy between the neutron lifetimes measured in the beam and trap experiments can be explained via the neutron $n$ conversion into mirror neutron $n'$, its dark partner from parallel mirror sector, provided that $n$ and $n'$ have a tiny mass splitting order $10^{-7}$ eV.

MTS-6 detectors calibration by using 239Pu-Be neutron source

open access: yesMedycyna Pracy, 2017
Background: Thermoluminescent detectors, type MTS-6, containing isotope 6Li (lithium) are sensitive in the range of thermal neutron energy; the 239Pu-Be (plutonium-and-beryllium) source emits neutrons in the energy range from 1 to 11 MeV. These seemingly

Searches for Electric Dipole Moments—Overview of Status and New Experimental Efforts

open access: yesUniverse, 2019
Searches for permanent electric dipole moments (EDMs) of fundamental particles, atoms and molecules are promising experiments to constrain and potentially reveal beyond Standard Model (SM) physics.

Enhanced Production of Neutron-Rich Rare Isotopes in Peripheral Collisions at Fermi Energies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A large enhancement in the production of neutron-rich projectile residues is observed in the reactions of a 25 MeV/nucleon 86Kr beam with the neutron rich 124Sn and 64Ni targets relative to the predictions of the EPAX parametrization of high-energy ...

Masses, Radii, and the Equation of State of Neutron Stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We summarize our current knowledge of neutron-star masses and radii. Recent instrumentation and computational advances have resulted in a rapid increase in the discovery rate and precise timing of radio pulsars in binaries in the past few years, leading ...

Back-n white neutron source at CSNS and its applications [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Science and Techniques, 2021
Back-streaming neutrons from the spallation target of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) that emit through the incoming proton channel were exploited to build a white neutron beam facility (the so-called Back-n white neutron source), which was ...

Relativistic mean-field study of neutron-rich nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A relativistic mean-field model is used to study the ground-state properties of neutron-rich nuclei. Nonlinear isoscalar-isovector terms, unconstrained by present day phenomenology, are added to the model Lagrangian in order to modify the poorly known ...
