Relativistic mean-field study of neutron-rich nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A relativistic mean-field model is used to study the ground-state properties of neutron-rich nuclei. Nonlinear isoscalar-isovector terms, unconstrained by present day phenomenology, are added to the model Lagrangian in order to modify the poorly known ...

A Study on Radiation Level at the Treatment Plane Due to Induced Activity in Linear Accelerator Head

open access: yesJournal of Medical Physics
Background: The induced activity is produced in the target, monitor chamber, flattening filter (FF), collimating jaws, etc., when a high-energy photon beam is utilized for radiation therapy.

Neutron/proton ratio of nucleon emissions as a probe of neutron skin

open access: yes, 2009
The dependence between neutron-to-proton yield ratio ($R_{np}$) and neutron skin thickness ($\delta_{np}$) in neutron-rich projectile induced reactions is investigated within the framework of the Isospin-Dependent Quantum Molecular Dynamics (IQMD) model.

Neutron Resonance Spectroscopy of 104Pd, 105Pd, and 110Pd

open access: yes, 2002
We have measured neutron resonances in the palladium isotopes 104, 105, and 110 for neutron energies from 1 to 2100 eV. Many new p-wave resonances have been observed. Their neutron widths and, in several cases, the radiative widths were measured.

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Measuring the yields and angular distributions of γ-quanta from the interaction between 14.1 MeV neutrons and sodium nuclei

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Physics and Functional Materials, 2021
A study of the reaction of inelastic scattering of 14.1 MeV neutrons by 23 Na nuclei was carried out at the TANGRA facility using the tagged neutron method. In this work, the energies of visible . transitions are determined, the yields of .

Phenomenological and Physically Based Modeling of Flow Stress and Strengthening Mechanism of Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

Neutron methods for the direct determination of the magnetic induction in thick films

open access: yes, 2015
We review different neutron methods which allow extracting directly the value of the magnetic induction in thick films: Larmor precession, Zeeman spatial beam-splitting and neutron spin resonance.

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Neutron total cross section measurements of gold and tantalum at the nELBE photoneutron source

open access: yes, 2013
Neutron total cross sections of $^{197}$Au and $^\text{nat}$Ta have been measured at the nELBE photoneutron source in the energy range from 0.1 - 10 MeV with a statistical uncertainty of up to 2 % and a total systematic uncertainty of 1 %.
