Precision determination of absolute neutron flux

open access: yes, 2018
A technique for establishing the total neutron rate of a highly-collimated monochromatic cold neutron beam was demonstrated using a method of an alpha-gamma counter.

A lower bound on the maximum mass if the secondary in GW190814 was once a rapidly spinning neutron star [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The recent detection of GW190814 featured the merger of a binary with a primary having a mass of $\sim 23\,M_{\odot}$ and a secondary with a mass of $\sim 2.6\,M_{\odot}$. While the primary was most likely a black hole, the secondary could be interpreted

In Situ Formation of a Melt‐Solid Interface Toward Stable Oxygen Reduction in Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
Protonic ceramic fuel cells offer a promising route to generate power efficiently but face critical challenges in achieving industrially viable activity and stability at their cathodes in CO2‐containing air. This report proposes a new cathode material design strategy to enable the cathode to be both catalytically active and CO2 tolerant through the ...

Neutron drip transition in accreting and nonaccreting neutron star crusts

open access: yes, 2015
The neutron-drip transition in the dense matter constituting the interior of neutron stars generally refers to the appearance of unbound neutrons as the matter density reaches some threshold density $\rho_\textrm{drip}$.

Nonparametric constraints on neutron star matter with existing and upcoming gravitational wave and pulsar observations [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2020
Observations of neutron stars, whether in binaries or in isolation, provide information about the internal structure of the most extreme material objects in the Universe.

Achieving Large and Anisotropic Spin‐Mediated Thermal Transport in Textured Quantum Magnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
An advanced solvent‐cast cold pressing method is developed to synthesize highly textured quantum magnets. By aligning spin chains in Ca2CuO3 perpendicular to the pressing direction, a spin‐mediated thermal conductivity of 10 ± 1 W m⁻¹ K⁻¹ is achieved, the highest reported for polycrystalline quantum materials.

Neutron methods for the direct determination of the magnetic induction in thick films

open access: yes, 2015
We review different neutron methods which allow extracting directly the value of the magnetic induction in thick films: Larmor precession, Zeeman spatial beam-splitting and neutron spin resonance.

NEUTRON RICH NUCLEI AND NEUTRON STARS [PDF]

open access: yesFission and Properties of Neutron-Rich Nuclei, 2013
The PREX experiment at Jefferson Laboratory measures the neutron radius of 208Pb with parity violating electron scattering in a way that is free from most strong interaction uncertainties. The 208Pb radius has important implications for neutron rich matter and the structure of neutron stars.

3D Printed Ultra‐Fast Plastic Scintillators Based on Perovskite‐Photocurable Polymer Composite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The demand for radiation detection is increasing in a number of fields, including high‐energy physics, medical imaging, and homeland security. This study serves to demonstrate the potential for the fabrication of fast perovskite‐based scintillators with complex shapes via stereolithographic additive manufacturing, representing a new path toward the ...

Analysis of Secondary Particles Produced by 50-500 MeV Muon and Water Interaction using PHITS Monte Carlo Package

open access: yesJIF (Jurnal Ilmu Fisika)
Secondary particles will always be generated in particle-to-matter interactions. The interaction of muons with matter produces various secondary particles.
