NEDA—NEutron Detector Array [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2019
The NEutron Detector Array, NEDA, will form the next generation neutron detection system that has been designed to be operated in conjunction with γ-ray arrays, such as the tracking-array AGATA, to aid nuclear spectroscopy studies. NEDA has been designed to be a versatile device, with high-detection efficiency, excellent neutron-γ discrimination, and ...

Development of a Fast-Spectrum Self-Powered Neutron Detector for Molten Salt Experiments in the Versatile Test Reactor [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2021
The self-powered neutron detector (SPND) is a widely used flux monitor in thermal nuclear reactors. Although this is a mature technology, the current state of the art is tuned for a thermal neutron spectrum, so many of the devices currently in use lack ...

Development and Characteristic of 6LiF/ZnS(Ag) Neutron Detector with Strong γ Suppression

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu, 2023
Due to the shortage of 3He gas and the rapidly increasing price, it is urgent to seek a new neutron detector to replace 3He gas detector. Scintillator based on 6LiF/ZnS(Ag) is an ideal material for thermal neutron detection because of its large neutron ...

Hybrid superconducting neutron detectors [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2015
A neutron detection concept is presented that is based on superconductive niobium (Nb) strips coated by a boron (B) layer. The working principle of the detector relies on the nuclear reaction, 10B + n → α + 7Li, with α and Li ions generating a hot spot on the current-biased Nb strip which in turn induces a superconducting-normal state transition.

Time-resolved secondary triton burnup 14 MeV neutron measurement by a new scintillating fiber detector in middle total neutron emission ranges in deuterium large helical device plasma experiments

open access: yesAAPPS Bulletin, 2021
A middle-sensitivity scintillating fiber detector (hereafter middle Sci-Fi detector) that works at a deuterium-tritium neutron flux of ~105-107 cm−2s−1 was utilized to measure secondary deuterium-tritium neutron emission rates with high temporal ...
