Study of neutron fundamental properties in the perfect crystal optics and diffraction [PDF]
Review of the new crystal-diffraction methods to study fundamental neutron properties and interactions is presented. Features of neutron optics in the crystal without a center of symmetry is discussed as well as the first experimental results and ...

A Cylindrical Cell for Operando Neutron Diffraction of Li-Ion Battery Electrode Materials
Neutron diffraction is a powerful technique to localize and quantify lithium in battery electrode materials. However, obtaining high-quality operando neutron diffraction data is challenging because it requires achieving good electrochemical performance ...

Single-Crystal Diffraction at ORNL: Historical Development, Current Advances, and Future Perspectives [PDF]
Since the pioneering neutron diffraction experiments by Ernest O. Wollan and Clifford G. Shull in the 1940s, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has played a central role in the advancement of single-crystal diffraction techniques.

Diffraction of Neutrons by Imperfect Gases [PDF]
The theory of cluster expansions is studied by a new method. A general procedure for obtaining the thermal average of a many-body function as a series in powers of density is derived. A recipe based on the Daker-Hausdorff theorem for reducing quantum thermal averages to their classical analogs is also described.

Neutron diffraction study of the Cr84.7Re15.3 alloy
Measurements of the temperature dependence of electrical resistance (R) and neutron powder diffraction (NPD) of a Cr84.7Re15.3 alloy is reported. The magnetism originates from the formation of a spin-density-wave (SDW) as a result of nesting between the ...

Magnetic ordering in Gd5Ir2Bi and Gd5Ir2Sb
155Gd Mössbauer spectroscopy and neutron powder diffraction have been used to study magnetic ordering in Gd5Ir2Bi and Gd5Ir2Sb. Despite the hyperfine fields (Bhf) at the two Gd sites differing by more than a factor of two for both compounds, the moments ...
