Neutron-diffraction study of liquid iodine
Physical Review A, 1991Accurate neutron-diffraction measurements on saturated liquid iodine, up to Q=16 Å −1, at T=409 K are presented. The intermolecular structure factor has been derived and a study performed on the presence of orientational correlations and their contribution to the intensity distribution.

Neutron diffraction studies of digalactosyldiacylglycerol
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1988The structure of the digalactosyldiacylglycerol bilayer is calculated using neutron diffraction data. The polar head group of this lipid is oriented parallel to the plane of the bilayer such that the galactose moieties are tightly packed at the bilayer surface into a 0.8 nm thick polar layer. The thickness of this layer is independent of water activity

Polarized neutrons and magnetic neutron diffraction
2009Abstract Atoms such as iron, cobalt, manganese and nickel, in the first transition series of elements, have incomplete 3d electronic shells with unpaired electrons. These unpaired electrons give rise to a resultant magnetic moment, and the interaction of this atomic moment with the magnetic moment of the neutron gives rise to magnetic ...

Neutron Powder Diffraction and Oxide Superconductors
Materials Science Forum, 1990Neutron powder diffraction has been essential for understanding the structures of the new high temperature oxide superconductors because of the difficulty in locating oxygen with X-rays in the presence of heavy metals, especially when single crystals are usually not available. This understanding lead to the discovery of new materials. In this paper we
