Research on Neutron Electric Dipole Moment

Physics Today, 1967
Experiments searching for a neutron electric dipole moment are being carried out at Oak Ridge and Brookhaven National Laboratories. At Oak Ridge, Norman F. Ramsey, of Harvard, with Philip Miller, William Dress and James Baird, is now engaged in an experiment similar to the neutron magnetic resonance experiment of James H. Smith, Edward M.

The Electric Dipole Moment of the Neutron

Physica Scripta, 1988
If there is either time reversal (T) or parity symmetry (P) there can be no electric dipole moment for particles whose orientations are fully specified by the orientations of their spin angular momenta. As a result there have been extensive searches for electric dipole moments of particles as tests of these symmetries.

Search for the Neutron Electric Dipole Moment

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
Searches for the neutron electric dipole moment (EDM) are motivated by their highly suppressed Standard Model value. The observation of a non‐zero signal in the next generation of experiments would point unambiguously to the existence of new physics beyond the Standard Model.

Forty years of neutron electric dipole moments

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1991
A succession of experiments to detect an electric dipole moment of the neutron has been undertaken during the past forty years. Improvements to the experimental techniques accompanied by increasing neutron beam fluxes have led to an ever decreasing upper limit on the neutron’s electric dipole moment. This paper will describe these experiments and their
