A Review of Black Phosphorus‐Based Materials: From Preparation Strategies to Characterization Techniques

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
The structure, properties, preparation methods, and characterization techniques of BP. As a typical 2D layered material, black phosphorus (BP) demonstrates exceptional promise in various fields, particularly in energy storage for alkali metal‐ion batteries. However, its distinctive structure and properties, together with the compositional complexity of

Macro Monte Carlo dose calculation for very high energy electron (VHEE) radiotherapy

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 53, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Background Very high energy electron (VHEE) radiotherapy has gained growing interest owing to its potential to reach deep‐seated targets and induce FLASH effect. Dose calculations can be performed using analytical or Monte Carlo (MC) methods. Analytical approaches enable rapid dose computation but suffer from limited accuracy in heterogeneous ...

A Dialogue on Revolutions and Revolutionaries in Science: A Perspective From Quantum Mechanics

open access: yesNatural Sciences, Volume 6, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT We discuss the notions of scientific revolutions and revolutionaries in the context of the Relativity Revolution and of the First, Second, and Third Quantum Revolutions. We conclude that at the core of the question of what qualifies as a revolution and revolutionary is an assessment of the gradients of knowledge accumulation over time, both at

Extraction replica method from thinned transmission electron microscopy samples without floating off carbon films: A case study on reduced activation steel

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, Volume 303, Issue 1, Page 88-100, July 2026.
Abstract A recipe for producing carbon extraction replicas from twin‐jet electropolished disks is described. This technique allows tracking the analysed region with respect to the bulk sample. An example use of the method as applied to a reduced activation ferritic martensitic (RAFM) steel, ‘UK‐RAFM’, is reported.
