Flexible and High‐Performance Perovskite‐Polymer Composites for Dual X‐Ray and Proton Direct Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A polymer–perovskite composite obtained by mechanochemical synthesis enables thick, tunable active layers for efficient absorption of highly penetrating ionizing radiation. Vertical‐electrode detectors achieve low X‐ray detection limits and high sensitivity direct 5 MeV proton sensing.

Effects of dark matter on the spontaneous scalarization in neutron stars

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
Dark matter, an important portion of compact objects, can influence different phenomena in neutron stars. The spontaneous scalarization in the scalar-tensor gravity has been proposed for neutron stars.

Frustration-driven magnetic fluctuations as the origin of the low-temperature skyrmion phase in Co7Zn7Mn6

open access: yesnpj Quantum Materials, 2021
In chiral cubic helimagnets, phases of magnetic skyrmions—topologically protected spin whirls—are stabilized by thermal fluctuations over a narrow region directly below the magnetic ordering temperature T c.

Spin Polarized Asymmetric Nuclear Matter and Neutron Star Matter Within the Lowest Order Constrained Variational Method

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, we calculate properties of the spin polarized asymmetrical nuclear matter and neutron star matter, using the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) method with the $AV_{18}$, $Reid93$, $UV_{14}$ and $AV_{14}$ potentials.

Nanocrystal Quality–Controlled Scintillation in Porous YAG:Ce Aerogels

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature thermal treatment of YAG:Ce nanoscintillator aerogels increases light yield under ionizing radiation by up to eightfold without affecting timing performance. Additionally, low‐temperature atmospheric treatments reversibly modify the cerium oxidation state, revealing strong defect sensitivity and offering new strategies to optimize ...

Superconductivity and a van Hove singularity confined to the surface of a topological semimetal

open access: yesNature Communications
The interplay between topology and superconductivity generated great interest in condensed matter physics. Here, we unveil an unconventional two-dimensional superconducting state in the Dirac nodal line semimetal ZrAs2 which is exclusively confined to ...

Constraining the neutron-matter equation of state with gravitational waves

open access: yes, 2019
We show how observations of gravitational waves from binary neutron star (BNS) mergers over the next few years can be combined with insights from nuclear physics to obtain useful constraints on the equation of state (EoS) of dense matter, in particular ...

Carboranyl‐Curcuminoids for the Neutron Capture‐Based Treatment of Amyloid Aggregates in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 10B‐enriched monocarbonyl analog of curcumin (BMAC) 10B‐9 enables site‐specific Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) on amyloid‐β (Aβ) fibrils. Neutron irradiation induces histidine oxidation and fibril destabilization, as revealed by 1H‐NMR and FESEM analyses.

How neutron stars constrain the nuclear equation of state

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
Recent neutron star observations set new constraints for the equation of state of baryonic matter. A chiral effective field theory approach is used for the description of neutron-dominated nuclear matter present in the outer core of neutron stars ...

Spontaneous scalarization in proto-neutron stars

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2023
Proto-neutron stars are born when a highly evolved and massive star collapses under gravity. In this paper, we investigate the spontaneous scalarization in proto-neutron stars.
