Abstract The experimental determination of the neutron-neutron scattering length is of interest from the point of view of both the study of nucleon-nucleon interactions and the verification of the hypothesis of isotopic invariance of strong interactions at low energies.

Introduction to Neutron Scattering
Frontiers of Neutron Scattering, 1998Among most other methods, neutron scattering allows a detailed understanding of the static and dynamic properties on an atomic scale of materials that occur in our environment. Combined with x-ray scattering a very large range of momentum and energy transfers can be covered thanks to the high complementarity of both techniques.

The Inelastic Scattering of Neutrons
Physical Review, 1952The total cross section and the differential cross section for the inelastic scattering of neutrons are considered. It is assumed that the compound nucleus is sufficiently excited so that the statistical model may be applied. If the statistical model may be applied as well to the residual nucleus, it is shown that the angular distribution of the ...

A method of evaluating the photoneutron fluence in the maze of accelerator facilities due to room scattered neutrons is presented. Measurements were made to demonstrate that the room scattered fluence is reduced by a factor of 2π in going from the treatment room to the inner maze entrance.

Electrostatic Scattering of Neutrons
Physical Review, 1949A weak force of attraction between electrons and thermal neutrons is indicated in recent experiments by Havens, Rabi, and Rainwater, and by Fermi and Marshall. According to meson theory this would be expected, since the neutron is considered as one charge state of a nucleon (the proton is the other state) which is coupled to a meson field.

Simultaneous Neutron Scattering and Raman Scattering
Applied Spectroscopy, 2009The capability to make simultaneous neutron and Raman scattering measurements at temperatures between 1.5 and 450 K has been developed. The samples to be investigated are attached to one end of a custom-made center-stick suitable for insertion into a 100 mm-bore cryostat.

On the Magnetic Scattering of Neutrons
Physical Review, 1937The scattering of slow neutrons by atoms is considered, assuming that, in addition to the ordinary nuclear forces, there is a magnetic interaction between the neutron and the atomic electrons. It is found that the neutrons scattered from an unpolarized beam will be partially polarized in virtue of this magnetic interaction.

Neutron-Neutron Scattering Length
Physical Review, 1961The final-state interaction of the two neutrons from the reaction pi / sup -/ + d yields 2n + gamma has a pronounced and distinctive effect on tbe momentum spectrum of the outgoing particles. In particular, the neutron spectrum is sharply peaked in the neighborhood of 2 Mev, with a shape that is quite sensitive to the strength of the nn interaction. In

Neutron-Proton and Neutron-Neutron Scattering at High Energies
Physical Review, 1949The phase method and the Born approximation is used to calculate the cross sections of high energy neutrons scattered by protons and neutrons. Various exchange theories are considered for both, central and tensor forces of rectangular and Yukawa well shape.
