Deuteration Aiming for Neutron Scattering
The distinguished feature of neutron as a scattering probe is an isotope effect, especially the large difference in neutron scattering length between hydrogen and deuterium. The difference renders the different visibility between hydrogenated and deuterated proteins.

Three-body coupled channel framework for two-neutron halo nuclei [PDF]
We study the Borromean nuclei formed by a core nucleus and two neutrons in a nonrelativistic effective field theory formalism considering both neutron-neutron and neutron-core interactions. We provide formulae of the charge and matter radii, and successfully reproduce the universal relation proposed by Hongo and Son based on the approximation of an ...

Gapless Dirac magnons in CrCl3
Bosonic Dirac materials are testbeds for dissipationless spin-based electronics. In the quasi two-dimensional honeycomb lattice of CrX3 (X = Cl, Br, I), Dirac magnons have been predicted at the crossing of acoustical and optical spin waves, analogous to ...

Constraining effects on polymer chain relaxation in crosslinked supramolecular dual networks
Polymer networks containing transient physical and permanent chemical cross-links exhibit unique mechanical properties due to the intrinsic reassociating ability of supramolecular functional groups.

The Schwinger Scattering of Twisted Neutrons by Nuclei [PDF]
Thanks to J.~Schwinger, the process of elastic scattering of neutrons by nuclei is known to depend on the interference between a nuclear amplitude and an electromagnetic one for small scattering angles, resulting in spin asymmetries of a cross section or in polarization of the scattered neutrons.

Neutron Scattering Investigations of Hydride Species in Heterogeneous Catalysis.
In heterogeneous catalysis, hydrides on the surface or in the bulk play a critical role as either active components or reaction intermediates in many hydrogen-involving reactions, but characterization of the nature and structure of these hydride species ...

Very small angle neutron scattering studies have been made on intact nuclei under a variety of solution conditions. Scattering maxima are observed at 30 to 40 nm and at 18 nm in most environments. Although the spacing, intensity and presence of the maximum near 40 nm varies considerably with environment the 18 nm is rather constant.

Tomonaga–Luttinger liquid behavior and spinon confinement in YbAlO3
Low dimensional quantum magnetic excitations are intriguing but the experimental realizations are challenging. Here, the authors demonstrate Tomonaga–Luttinger behavior and spinon confinement in rare-earth perovskite YbAlO3 by inelastic neutron ...

The interaction of many peptides with lipid bilayer membranes strongly depends on the lipid composition. Here, a study of the impact of unsaturated lipid acyl chains on the interaction of a derivative of the HIV-1 fusion peptide with lipid bilayer ...
