High‐Entropy Magnetism of Murunskite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study of murunskite (K2FeCu3S4) reveals that its magnetic and orbital order emerges in a simple I4/mmm crystal structure with complete disorder in the transition metal positions. Mixed‐valence Fe ions randomly occupy 1/4 of the tetrahedral sites, with the remaining 3/4 being filled by non‐magnetic Cu+ ions.

Superfluid phases of triplet pairing and rapid cooling of the neutron star in Cassiopeia A

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
In a simple model it is demonstrated that the neutron star surface temperature evolution is sensitive to the phase state of the triplet superfluid condensate.

A Coherent Radio Burst from an X-Ray Neutron Star in the Carina Nebula

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The neutron star zoo comprises several subpopulations that range from energetic magnetars and thermally emitting X-ray neutron stars to radio-emitting pulsars. Despite studies over the last five decades, it has been challenging to obtain a clear physical

Gravitational-Wave Constraints on the Neutron-Star-Matter Equation of State. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2017
The detection of gravitational waves originating from a neutron-star merger, GW170817, by the LIGO and Virgo Collaborations has recently provided new stringent limits on the tidal deformabilities of the stars involved in the collision.

Mirror neutron stars

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2022
The fundamental nature of dark matter is entirely unknown. A compelling candidate is Twin Higgs mirror matter, invisible hidden-sector cousins of the Standard Model particles and forces. This predicts mirror neutron stars made entirely of mirror nuclear matter. We find their structure using realistic equations of state, robustly modified based on first-

Experimental and Theoretical Confirmation of Covalent Bonding in α‐Pu

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a combination of Reverse Monte Carlo dynamic rigid body fitting to the pair distribution functional and novel density functional approaches, the existence of covalent bonding is confirmed in α‐plutonium alongside other bonding types (i.e. mixed bonding schemes).

On the Fifth Force and the Structure of Neutron Star [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 1994
In the framework of Thomas-Fermi equation, we have examined the properties of neutron star by assuming the existence of a new intermediate force which is composition dependent.

Probing neutron star physics using accreting neutron stars

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
We give an obervational overview of the accreting neutron stars systems as probes of neutron star physics. In particular we focus on the results obtained from the periodic timing of accreting millisecond X-ray pulsars in outburst and from the ...

The most massive progenitors of neutron stars: CXO J164710.2-455216

open access: yes, 2008
The evolution leading to the formation of a neutron star in the very young Westerlund 1 star cluster is investigated. The turnoff mass has been estimated to be 35 Msun, indicating a cluster age ~ 3-5 Myr.

Compact radio emission indicates a structured jet was produced by a binary neutron star merger [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2018
Merging produced a structured jet The binary neutron star merger event GW170817 was observed with gravitational waves and across the electromagnetic spectrum.
