In‐Depth Analysis of the Origin of Enhanced Ionic Conductivity of Halide‐Based Solid‐State Electrolyte by Anion Site Substitution

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
The effect of sulfur doping on Li2ZrCl6 is systematically investigated. The formation of biphasic mixtures is confirmed by neutron and X‐ray diffraction studies. The presence of dual anion doping shows improved ionic conductivity of 0.64 mS cm−1. The transition from 1D to 2D pathway (confirmed by density functional theory (DFT)) is beneficial in ...

Reducing formaldehyde emissions and enhancing performance of particleboards through the incorporation of activated carbon produced from Scots pine wood residues

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Wood‐based composite boards present a problem due to formaldehyde emissions from engineered particleboard, which pose health and environmental risks. This study explored the production of activated carbon (AC) from Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) wood residues using phosphoric acid (H3PO4) as a chemical activator.

Transition in Residues: On Depleted Oil Wells, Radioactive Geophysics, and the Origins of the Twentieth Century's Energy Mix

open access: yesBerichte zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte, EarlyView.
The oil and uranium industries always have been intertwined. Both industries are inherently global and span an extensive geological history. The formation of uranium and oil deposits, and their eventual extraction, is a story circling through early planetary history, continuing in depleted oil wells in Germany, Canada, and France, and lingering well ...

Insights Into Dendritic Growth Mechanisms in Batteries: A Combined Machine Learning and Computational Study

open access: yesBattery Energy, EarlyView.
Dendritic growth in batteries presents challenges to both performance and safety. In this study, we have successfully developed a two‐dimensional artificial neural network model that accurately identifies consistent growth modes observed in experimental data.

In Situ Coating Li3PO4 on Li6.5La3Zr1.5Ta0.5O12 Achieving Lithium Dendrites Inhibition and High Chemical Stability

open access: yesBattery Energy, EarlyView.
Lithium dendrite causes short‐circuit quickly in liquid lithium metal batteries using a normal separator. By in situ coating Li3PO4 on Li6.5La3Zr1.5Ta0.5O12 (LLZTO), we neutralize the residual alkali on LLZTOsurface, making it feasible to prepare a slurry with PVDF to further coating the separator.
