Unveiling the Ultralow Thermal Conductivity of Hybrid Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In hybrid perovskites, thermal energy flows through lattice vibrations of the framework (48%–65%) and organic molecules (35%–52%). When the disorder introduced by organic molecules is excluded, the temperature dependence of the vibrational thermal conductivity results from the lattice framework transits from ∼T0 to ∼T−1, and the value doubles at room ...

Revealing the Nanoscale Morphology Changes of Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell Catalyst Layers due to Conditioning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We apply ex situ and in situ scanning transmission X‐ray microscopy to reveal the structural degradation of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell catalyst layers due to conditioning and thermal heating of the catalyst coated membrane. We observe a redistribution of the ionomer and carbon‐black in the catalyst layer, as well as nanoscale membrane ...

Advances in Computational and Experimental Approaches to Chemical Short‐Range Order Formation in Multi‐Principal Element Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chemical short‐range order (CSRO) plays a central role in governing the behavior of multi‐principal element alloys. This perspective critically assesses computational and experimental approaches for quantifying, characterizing, and validating CSRO, emphasizing modeling–experiment cross‐validation pathways that enable more reliable interpretation of ...

Sticker Valence Governs Chain Collapse and Liquid‐Liquid Phase Separation in Peptide‐Inspired Associative Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Peptide‐inspired associative polymers with arginine‐like guanidinium stickers and lysine‐like ammonium spacers undergo chain collapse and liquid‐liquid phase separation induced by reversible sticker associations. Sticker valence and tunable association strength jointly control the phase behavior, chain conformation, and interfacial cohesion of these ...

Unveiling the Uncharted Potential of 2D Materials in Li/Na–S Batteries: A Paradigm Shift From Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores emerging 2D materials beyond graphene, including graphdiyne, phosphorene, borophene, siloxene, MBene, antimonene, and germanene for Li/Na–S batteries. It analyzes their roles as sulfur hosts, metallic anode protectors, separators, and electrolyte fillers, emphasizing polysulfide suppression, dendrite inhibition, and interfacial ...

Atomically Modulating Competing Exchange Interactions in Centrosymmetric Skyrmion Hosts GdRu2X2 (X = Si and Ge)

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Our work bridges the gap between skyrmion discovery and material design by demonstrating how atomic‐scale control of exchange interactions enables tunable skyrmion phase transitions in centrosymmetric magnetic metals. ABSTRACT Magnetic skyrmions are topologically protected spin states that hold promise for shaping the future of electronics.

Robustness of Half‐Metallicity and Spin‐Dependent Transport in Defective Co2HfSn and Co2ZrSn Heusler Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Point defects strongly influence the spin‐dependent electronic and transport properties of Co2HfSn and Co2ZrSn Heusler alloys. First‐principles calculations reveal that Co vacancies preserve half‐metallicity, while anti‐site and swap defects introduce minority‐spin states that reduce spin selectivity.

Tuning Local Modulus at Liquid Metal‐Polymer Interfaces Regulates Electrocaloric Effect in Ferroelectric Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid metal nanoparticles create mechanically compliant polymer interfaces that facilitate reversible dipolar reorientation under electric fields, whereas rigid interfaces impose stronger local constraints. This soft–rigid interface comparison reveals local interfacial modulus as a key parameter for tuning electrocaloric entropy change in ...

Combinatorial Survey of Structural Phase Distribution and Magnetism in Fe‐Ge‐Te Composition‐Spread Thin Film Libraries

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Magnetic 2‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) materials have garnered tremendous attention. The vdW ferromagnet Fe5Ge1Te2 has a Curie temperature Tc of ≈ 270 K, which is tailorable by tuning the stoichiometry and the Fe deficiency to reach room temperature.

Atomic Scale Control of Thermal Conductivity in LaMnO3/SrMnO3 Superlattices

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Interface‐dominated cross‐plane thermal transport in [(LaMnO3)m/(SrMnO3)n]10 superlattices can be controlled by the octahedral rotation/tilt angle φOOR of the MnO6 octahedra, which as well is controlled by the “m/n” ratio. ABSTRACT We report atomic scale structure and phonon thermal transport in (LaMnO3)m/(SrMnO3)n/SrTiO3(100) superlattices (LMO/SMO ...
