Neutral Beams for Neutron Generation in Fusion Neutron Sources

open access: yesAtoms, 2022
Neutral beam injection is supposed to be the main source of high-energy particles, driving non-inductive current and generating primary neutrons in fusion neutron sources design based on tokamaks.

Spin Susceptibility of Neutron Matter at Zero Temperature [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2001
The Auxiliary Field Diffusion Monte Carlo method is applied to compute the spin susceptibility and the compressibility of neutron matter at zero temperature. Results are given for realistic interactions which include both a two-body potential of the Argonne type and the Urbana IX three-body potential.

Incommensurate Crystallization of Neutron Matter in Neutron Stars

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics, 2020
The composition of the neutron stars from its surface region, outer-core, inner-core, and to its center is still being investigated. One can only surmise on the properties of neutron stars from the spectroscopic data that may be available from time to ...

Time-Resolved Neutron Bragg-Edge Imaging: A Case Study by Observing Martensitic Phase Formation in Low Temperature Transformation (LTT) Steel during GTAW

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Polychromatic and wavelength-selective neutron transmission radiography were applied during bead-on-plate welding on 5 mm thick sheets on the face side of martensitic low transformation temperature (LTT) steel plates using gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW).

Photon sensitivity of superheated drop at room temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
It has been reported so far that superheated drop detector made of R-12 at room temperature are sensitive to neutrons yet insensitive to photons. This property makes its use as one of the most useful neutron dosimeter.

Temperature-dependent pulsations of superfluid neutron stars [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2006
We examine radial oscillations of superfluid neutron stars at finite internal temperatures. For this purpose we generalize the description of relativistic superfluid hydrodynamics to the case of superfluid mixtures. We show that in a neutron star at hydrostatic and beta-equilibrium the red-shifted temperature gradient is smoothed out by neutron ...

ROSAT HRI Observations of the Crab Pulsar: An Improved Temperature upper limit for PSR 0531+21 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
ROSAT HRI observations have been used to determine an upper limit of the Crab pulsar surface temperature from the off-pulse count rate. For a neutron star mass of 1.4 \Mo and a radius of 10 km as well as the standard distance and interstellar column ...

Cooling of the Cassiopeia A neutron star and the effect of diffusive nuclear burning

open access: yes, 2019
The study of how neutron stars cool over time can provide invaluable insights into fundamental physics such as the nuclear equation of state and superconductivity and superfluidity.
