Velocity Dependent Neutron Transport Theory

Nuclear Science and Engineering, 1960
A method of extending the spherical harmorics method to calculation of velocily-dependent neutron transport processss is described. Application of the method is made to a vsriation of the Milne problem with the model of an ideal gas of unit mass for the scatiering medium. The results indicate that the method can give accurate analytical expressions for

Orthogonal polynomials in neutron transport theory

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1982
The asymptotic average properties of zeros of the polynomials gkm(x), which play a fundamental role in neutron transport and radiative transfer theories, are investigated analytically in terms of the angular expansion coefficients wk of the scattering kernel for three wide classes of scattering models.

Some abalytical methods in neutron transport theory

Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 1971
Abstract In this paper, whose purpose is pedagogic, we discuss some distinctive features of neutron transport theory. The linearized transport equation is similar to those met in theories of gas dynamics and radiative transfer. We describe the analytical techniques that have been most successful in analyzing the neutron equation. Among these are: The

A Survey of Neutron Transport Theory

1973
The basic ideas of neutron transport theory are compared with those of the kinetic theory of gases, and the essential differences are indicated. Typical idealized problems are briefly described, and the mathematical and computational methods reviewed.

Singular perturbation method in neutron transport theory

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1974
We consider equations of evolution with a small parameter in a Banach space. The method of singular perturbations is applied to derive inner and outer asymptotic solutions. It is shown that the neutron transport equation coupled with the equation for the concentration of delayed neutron precursors, if considered in the Hilbert space of square ...
