Interplay between Lithium Intercalation and Plating during Fast Charging of Lithium‐Ion Batteries Investigated by Operando NMR Spectroscopy

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
Lithium plating is investigated using operando nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and a three‐electrode design. The onset of plating occurs at a negative potential below −100 mV, while NMR spectra offer insights on the competition between graphite lithiation, plating, and re‐intercalation during charging.

Ag‐Embedded Carbon Nanotube Bucky Papers for Lithium Metal Full Batteries

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
The lithiophilic 3D carbon host is fabricated with multi‐walled carbon nanotubes and silver nitrate as an Ag precursor for the Li metal anode, which provides a conductive pathway and site for high Li affinity. Owing to lowered Li nucleation overpotential and uniform Li deposition, the Li@Ag/MCBP–10 with variable cathode exhibits enhanced cycle ...

In‐Depth Analysis of the Origin of Enhanced Ionic Conductivity of Halide‐Based Solid‐State Electrolyte by Anion Site Substitution

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
The effect of sulfur doping on Li2ZrCl6 is systematically investigated. The formation of biphasic mixtures is confirmed by neutron and X‐ray diffraction studies. The presence of dual anion doping shows improved ionic conductivity of 0.64 mS cm−1. The transition from 1D to 2D pathway (confirmed by density functional theory (DFT)) is beneficial in ...

Reducing formaldehyde emissions and enhancing performance of particleboards through the incorporation of activated carbon produced from Scots pine wood residues

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Wood‐based composite boards present a problem due to formaldehyde emissions from engineered particleboard, which pose health and environmental risks. This study explored the production of activated carbon (AC) from Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) wood residues using phosphoric acid (H3PO4) as a chemical activator.
