A Data Driven Review of In Vitro Electrical and Mechanical Stimulation for Post‐Acute Phase Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how in vitro electrical and mechanical stimulation modulates wound healing in fibroblasts and keratinocytes. Analyzing over 560 experimental data points, we relate stimulation parameters to proliferation and migration outcomes, evaluate platform designs, and highlight the need for multi‐parameter optimization to advance targeted ...

LPS promotes the production of ROS in neutrophils to regulate their killing activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis

open access: yesScientific Reports
Tuberculosis (TB) is now the leading cause of death globally from a single infectious disease. So far, the exact mechanism of anti-tuberculosis immunity has not been fully elucidated, and the immune role of neutrophils in anti-tuberculosis infection is ...

Long‐Term Hydrophilic, Anti‐Clotting, and Anti‐Fibrotic Dynamic Covalent Silicone‐Based Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Dynamic covalent crosslinking of a Schiff‐base silicone elastomer with hydrazide‐functionalized polymers is demonstrated to improve the long‐term hydrophilicity as well as the anti‐fouling and anti‐clotting properties of PDMS implants. The hydrazone‐functionalized material prevents hydrophobic recovery, resists clotting, and significantly reduces ...

Cell death and clearance - studies of human neutrophils from blood and tissue

open access: yes, 2011
Neutrophils are phagocytic cells that typically migrate from circulation to tissues in order to combat microbial invasion. The journey from blood to tissue involves mobilization of intracellular organelles which results in modifications of surface ...

Effects of chitosan oligosaccharides on neutrophils from glycogen-induced peritonitis mice model

open access: yes, 2009
To investigate the effects of chitosan oligosaccharides (COS) on the neutrophils from glycogen-induced peritonitis mice model, the production of superoxide and hydrogen peroxide, myeloperoxidase (MPO) release as well as apoptosis were measured.

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

Induction of Bim limits cytokine-mediated prolonged survival of neutrophils

open access: yes, 2009
Under inflammatory conditions, neutrophil apoptosis is delayed due to survival-factor exposure, a mechanism that prevents the resolution of inflammation.

Cold Atmospheric Plasma‐Activated Decellularized Extracellular Matrix Gel as a Tumor‐Infiltrating Immunoactivation Platform for Post‐Surgical Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An injectable cold atmospheric plasma‐activated decellularized tumor extracellular matrix hydrogel is introduced as a post‐surgical immunoactivation platform. The engineered gel attracts residual tumor cells and induces immunogenic cell death, reshaping the tumor microenvironment and eliciting systemic antitumor immunity. In combination with checkpoint
