Morphologic changes of a pigmented Spitz nevus assessed by dermoscopy
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 2002Pigmented Spitz nevus may simulate cutaneous melanoma clinically and histopathologically. In an effort to characterize Spitz nevi using dermoscopy, we documented the dermoscopic features of a single pigmented Spitz nevus over a 6-month period. A 3-year-old boy had a brownish black papule, 3 mm in diameter, on the dorsum of the first finger of his left ...

Rhabdomyosarcoma in a Congenital Pigmented Nevus
Pediatric Pathology, 1992A 7-month-old boy had a giant pigmented lesion involving the trunk and thighs that exhibited many hyperpigmented hairy and verrucous nevi. One of the nevi ulcerated and on histological examination consisted of pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma cells that stained for muscle-specific actin (HHF-35), desmin, and myoglobin.

Genomic Fusions in Pigmented Spindle Cell Nevus of Reed
American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2018Recent molecular studies of spitzoid neoplasms have identified mutually exclusive kinase fusions involving ROS1, ALK, RET, BRAF, NTRK1, MET, and NTRK3 as early initiating genomic events.
