Chiral‐Induced Spin Selectivity Effect in a 1 nm Thin 1,1′‐Binaphthyl‐2,2′‐diyl Hydrogenphosphate Self‐Assembled Monolayer on Nickel Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled monolayer (≈0.9 nm) of an axially chiral binaphthol phosphoric acid derivative on a ferromagnetic Ni/NiOx substrate shows chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) magnetoresistance of 50%–80%. This thermally and chemically robust functional stack shows the way towards practical spintronic devices based on the CISS effect.

Cation Diffusion‐Mediated Displaced Reaction‐Transformation in Green Steelmaking

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The removal of O lattice atoms by environmental H2 at the surface of Fe3O4 results in Fe enrichment, driving the inward diffusion of Fe cations into the bulk. Through hopping between unoccupied and initially occupied sites, cation diffusion triggers a spatially displaced reaction‐transformation and drives subsequent dynamic phase transformations and ...

Cancer‐Associated BCL‐2 Mutants Reveal Mechanisms Towards Venetoclax Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Venetoclax (VEN) resistance in chronic lymphocytic leukemia arises from diverse BCL2 mutations. We map mechanisms contributing to VEN resistance across common BCL‐2 variants. G101V and D103Y reduce drug binding and increase sequestration of pro‐apoptotic proteins. V156D blocks VEN allosterically.

Reorganization of Innate Immune Cell Lipid Profiles by Bioinspired Meroterpenoids to Limit Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resolution pharmacology is an emerging strategy to tackle inflammatory pathologies. Bioinspired meroterpenoids induce a lipid mediator class switch toward inflammation resolution in vitro and in vivo by targeting key nodes in lipid mediator biosynthesis and neutral lipid dynamics.

A pastoral evaluation and responses to the challenge of spiritual insecurity in African pastoral ministry and Christianity

open access: yesVerbum et Ecclesia, 2017
This article argues that there is a form of Christian syncretism operating in African Christians use of traditional African powers to address their spiritual insecurity challenges that arises from their former traditional African worldview of spiritual ...

Stress Hyperglycemia Drives CD4+ T Cell PANoptosis and Postoperative Organ Injury via Monocyte‐Derived Succinate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High glucose is linked to reduced succinate dehydrogenase activity in CD14+ monocytes, accompanied by succinate accumulation and extracellular release. Extracellular succinate exacerbates mitochondrial ROS production and mtDNA release in CD4+ T cells. Cytosolic mtDNA then activates Z‐DNA binding protein 1 (ZBP1) and engages ZBP1‐associated inflammatory

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers”: New Testament perspectives on how Christians should live and act in a society of diverging convictions

open access: yesIn die Skriflig, 2008
The exhortation found in 2 Corinthians 6:14 “not to be yoked together with unbelievers” has been interpreted and applied differently by Christians. Some Christians try to hide from the realities of everyday life in a kind of escapism and religious ...

Activating Ionic Carbon Nitrides via Epitaxial Dyadic Coupling for Efficient Solar‐Driven H2O2 Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Epitaxial integration of a C1N1 phase onto KPHI creates a dyadic charge‐transfer nanostructure with strong interfacial electronic coupling. This architecture drives directional electron transfer from KPHI to C1N1, enabling efficient cocatalyst‐free solar H2O2 production.

Alimentación y argumentación en la España moderna: De ollas, lentejas, duelos y quebrantos y palominos en el Quijote (I, 1)

open access: yesAtalaya, 2019
The diet of the Manchego nobleman is articulated around a folkloric calendar, with the opposition between Lent and Carnestolenda, and religious, with the cycle of the Passion through Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday.

Spatially Informed Feature Selection and Machine Learning in Matrix‐Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Imaging for Cohort‐Scale Molecular Tissue Phenomics in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization imaging‐based identification of reliable small molecule markers across heterogeneous glioblastoma cohorts is challenging with intensity‐only methods. We present spatially informed feature selection (SIFS), a spatially informed framework that prioritizes molecules consistently colocalizing with histopathology.
