Remote Magnetomechanical Neuromodulation Uncovers Therapeutic Mechanisms for Alleviating Parkinsonian Symptoms in Freely Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

Does the Mosaic Law Obligate Christians? The Fate of the Gentiles in Ḥizzuq ʾEmunah by 16th-Century Karaite Jewish Polemicist Isaac Ben Abraham of Troki

open access: yesReligions
Ḥizzuq ʾEmunah (Faith Strengthened), written by the 16th-century Karaite Jewish scholar Isaac ben Abraham of Troki (Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth), was one of the most renowned Hebrew anti-Christian polemical works, meriting translation into most ...

Microblasting Wound Dressings Mechanically Disrupt Polymicrobial Biofilms to Enhance Healing in Treatment‐Resistant Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Treatment‐resistant wounds caused by polymicrobial biofilms are refractory to conventional therapies due to the dense extracellular matrices. We developed μBLAST, a microblasting wound dressing that combines MnO2‐doped biosilica and a H2O2‐releasing mesh to generate localized oxygen microbubbles that mechanically disrupt biofilms.

Atomic‐Level CuOx‐CoOx‐Pd Interfacial Engineering Enables Hierarchical Synergy for High‐Efficiency ORR Pathways and Boosted Power Output in Alkaline Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Atomically dispersed CuOx (CPCu‐1) forms isolated Cu–Ov sites that enable defect‐mediated O2 activation and fast electron/proton transfer via interfacial synergy. In contrast, thick CuOx clusters (CPCu‐10) promote a surface‐adsorption‐controlled pathway with intermediate accumulation, highlighting a mechanism switch from interfacial activation to ...

Identiteit en seksualiteit in die Nuwe Testament

open access: yesVerbum et Ecclesia, 2006
This contribution wants to provide a broad overview of sexuality in the New Testament. It provides broad thematic stripes, picturing the early Christians as sexual beings with a new identity in Christ.

An exciting Approach to Theoretical Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Theoretical spectroscopy, and more generally, electronic‐structure theory, are powerful concepts for describing the complex many‐body interactions in materials. They cover methods from ground‐state properties to lattice excitations and light‐matter interaction, including time‐resolved variants.

CD31+ Cell Enrichment Enhances Therapeutic Effects of Stromal Vascular Fraction in Experimental Primary Osteoarthritis: A Preclinical Study in the Dunkin Hartley Guinea Pig Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Both SVF and CD31+ SVF improve spontaneous osteoarthritis, but CD31+ enrichment refines the therapeutic profile rather than broadly enhancing all effects. More distinct benefits are observed in extracellular matrix remodeling, osteochondral integrity, and subchondral/trabecular bone preservation, supporting CD31+‐enriched SVF as a biologically enhanced

Chiral‐Induced Spin Selectivity Effect in a 1 nm Thin 1,1′‐Binaphthyl‐2,2′‐diyl Hydrogenphosphate Self‐Assembled Monolayer on Nickel Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled monolayer (≈0.9 nm) of an axially chiral binaphthol phosphoric acid derivative on a ferromagnetic Ni/NiOx substrate shows chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) magnetoresistance of 50%–80%. This thermally and chemically robust functional stack shows the way towards practical spintronic devices based on the CISS effect.

Panašūs ar skirtingi? Dvi krikščioniškos bendruomenės pagoniškame Vilniuje | Similar or Different? Two Christian Communities in Pagan Vilnius

open access: yesActa Historica Universitatis Klaipedensis, 2016
In the 13th and 14th centuries, Lithuania’s neighbours were already Christians: Orthodox to the east, Catholics to the north and south. Members of these two branches of Christianity met in pagan Vilnius, which was already looking at choosing a new faith.
