Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

A new calculation of atmospheric neutrino fluxes [PDF]
Abstract Atmospheric neutrino fluxes have been computed directly from recent measurements of muon momentum spectra in the stratosphere. The results agree to within about 15% with the previous calculations by Barr, Gaisser and Stanev by another method, although they predict a somewhat different variation of flux with geomagnetic latitude.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Evaluating the JULES land surface model energy fluxes using FLUXNET data [PDF]
Surface energy flux measurements from a sample of ten FLUXNET sites selected to represent a range of climate conditions and biome types were used to assess the performance of the Hadley Centre land surface model (JULES).

Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Methane emissions variability from a Welsh patterned raised bog [PDF]
PhDThis work investigated the variability of CH4 emissions from a Welsh raised bog Cors Fochno and evaluated the role of ebullition as a mechanism of CH4 flux to the atmosphere.
