Human psychology can encompass apparently opposed weltanshaungs. I was thinking this as I waited with what I must nowadays refer to as my “animal companion” in the local vet's surgery recently. It was very busy, and undoubtedly lucrative, but I have seen no move to develop anything like the District General Hospital for animals in every town.
