La nueva ruralidad en México

open access: yesInvestigaciones Geográficas, 1999
In many developed countries, urban diffusion shakes traditional rural areas so strong that agrarian activity is no longer one, nor the most important characteristic of "rural life", particularly in the periurban zone of most dynamic cities. This has been

Analyzing the Driving Mechanism of Rural Transition from the Perspective of Rural–Urban Continuum: A Case Study of Suzhou, China

open access: yesLand, 2022
Rural transition has become a core topic in the study of the urban–rural relationship in China. Analyzing the transition process and sorting out the key driving factors in different periods is essential for providing critical references for the urban ...

New Biotechnologies for Rural Development [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Following the broad scenario of the potentials of agricultural biotechnology for developing countries presented in Chapter 2, the purpose of this chapter is to more narrowly focus on microbial biotechnology applications in agriculture. The chapter also deals with its applications in food production and processing. Discussions on the potentials of these

A Rare Allele of ST5 From Wild Rice Enhances Salt Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel salt‐tolerance gene ST5W, characterized by a unique 36‐bp promoter insertion, is found exclusively in a small subset of Oryza rufipogon and is absent in cultivated rice. Field trials confirm ST5W significantly enhances rice yield across diverse genetic backgrounds under saline conditions.

A Soft, Flexible Implant for Wireless Photothermal–Pyroelectric Neurostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A replication strategy is used to enlarge the exposed surface area of barium titanate within flexible films with embedded carbon nanotubes, enabling efficient photothermal‐pyroelectric stimulation. Polar crystalline nanosheets show superior performance in guiding neural progenitor cells toward neuronal differentiation.

eQTL Meta‐Analysis Reveals Conserved and Population‐Specific Regulatory Variation Underlying Nutritional Trait Evolution and Domestication in Tomato

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A comprehensive meta‐analysis of expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs) across five diverse tomato populations reveals a high‐resolution atlas of transcriptional regulation and uncovers conserved and population‐specific regulatory architectures underlying fruit nutritional quality traits, including flavonoids, sugars, organic acids, carotenoids ...

Rurality and discourse: From the Spanish case to the Cantabrian case [PDF]

open access: yesAntropólogos Iberoamericanos en Red, 2012
The European Union reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in 1992, in accordance to what has been called multifunctionality of rural environments, has considered as its most ambitious goals the preservation of the rural landscape and natural ...

Comparative Oligo‐FISH Mapping Illuminates Chromosomal Evolution Among Rutaceae Species Diverged Over 50 Million Years

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Oligonucleotide‐based fluorescence in situ hybridization probes were developed in the model citrus species Citrus maxima. These probes were applied to comparative karyotyping across 14 species in the Rutaceae family. This analysis revealed chromosomal evolution in lineages that diverged from Citrus nearly 52 million years ago.

Haplotype‐Resolved 3D Genomic Landscapes and Their Impacts on Agronomic Traits in Grapevine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a haplotype‐resolved 3D genomic landscape of grapevine, revealing that structural variations (SVs) are closely associated with phased topologically associating domain (TAD) boundary transitions. These rearrangements coordinate with allele‐specific DNA methylation (ASM) and allele‐biased gene expression (ASE) to shape key agronomic ...
