Cup‐Like Nuclei Is a Hallmark of DUX4/ERG Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and Reveals Cytoplasmic Mitochondria Accumulation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cup‐like nuclei are a distinctive morphological feature observed in certain cases of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). We provide evidence that they characterize DUX4/ERG ALL independently of IKZF1 deletion and reveal marked mitochondrial accumulation in this ALL subset.

Genomic Diversity and Clinical Variability in Pediatric Primary Cutaneous Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma: A Case Series

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (pcALCL) is a rare pediatric CD30‐positive T‐cell lymphoproliferative disorder with an excellent prognosis, but its genomic drivers are poorly defined. We report three children with skin‐limited disease demonstrating striking molecular heterogeneity, including NPM::ALK, NUP214::FRK, and a novel ...

Developing new technology [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2001
The specialty of cardiothoracic surgery should be one of constant innovation. Albert Einstein was a man of vision who said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." With most technology expected to be obsolete in 5-7 years, thoracic surgeons need to draw from their imaginations to find innovative surgical solutions for the future.

Vetting new technologies [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ, 1996
Those whose efficacy and safety have not been established will now be registered and evaluated While it is compulsory to evaluate drugs before their widespread use is permitted, other medical interventions are not subject to the same constraints. This has allowed a tidal wave of new health care technologies, which have diffused through health care ...

Sustained Therapeutic Efficacy of Intravenous Plasminogen Concentrate in Pediatric Patients With Type 1 Plasminogen Deficiency: An Analysis of Dosing Parameters and Clinical Outcomes

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Type 1 plasminogen deficiency (PLGD‐1) is an ultra‐rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by variants in the PLG gene and affects approximately 1.6 individuals per million. The condition is characterized by decreased plasminogen levels and impaired function, resulting in fibrin‐rich lesions on mucous membranes throughout the body.

New stent technologies [PDF]

open access: yesProgress in Cardiovascular Diseases, 1996
Coronary stents were developed to overcome the two main limitations of balloon angioplasty, acute occlusion and long-term restenosis. Coronary stents can tack back intimal flaps and seal the dissected vessel wall, thereby treating acute or threatened vessel closure after unsuccessful balloon angioplasty. After successful balloon angioplasty, stents can
