A Phase‐Field Framework for Rate‐Dependent Failure in Polymer Fiber‐Reinforced High‐Performance Concrete

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐performance concrete (HPC) is characterized by its improved strength and durability when compared to normal concrete. However, it still exhibits brittle failure, prompting the use of fiber reinforcement to enhance their post‐cracking performance.

Finite Viscoelastic Modeling of Ice Shelves Using Glen's Flow Law and Depth‐Dependent Material Properties

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Ice shelves are floating seaward extensions of glaciers that form where land‐based ice flows into the ocean. Recent observations suggest that their mechanical behavior is suitably described by a viscoelastic Maxwell model, as this framework captures both the instantaneous elastic response and the time‐dependent viscous flow of ice.

Global Graph Surrogates and Neural Graph Elements for Computational Mechanics

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Machine learning surrogates are increasingly used to accelerate physics‐based simulations by predicting full‐field responses at a fraction of the computational cost. In this contribution, we present two complementary graph‐based approaches for surrogate modelling in computational mechanics.

Reconfigurable Computing in Neural Network‐Enhanced Finite Element Analysis in Structural Dynamics

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT In the present study, artificial neural networks (ANNs) trigger a better physically plausible initial guess in the Newton–Raphson scheme of an implicit material integration scheme of rate‐dependent viscoplastic dynamic response of plate structures in an in‐house finite element (FE) solver.

Um Estudo do Método de Newton-Raphson [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
O Método de Newton-Raphson é um eficiente método para se obter aproximação de raízes de funções reais. No entanto, os livros de cálculo em geral trazem apenas um estudo e aplicação de tal método no caso específico de funções de classe $C^2$, cujas ...

Influence of Porous‐Layer Permeability and Thickness on Stability and Load‐Bearing Capacity of a Porous air Bearing

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT The paper deals with the simulation of porous journal bearings by solving the Reynolds and Darcy equations in conjunction with the continuity equation. To find the solution, the solution domain is discretized using the finite volume method.
