Abstract The reinforcement corrosion is one of the main degradation mechanisms in reinforced concrete structures. Its effects can harm structural elements by reducing mechanical capacity, mainly due to diminished reinforcement properties and expansive reactions within the concrete.

A molecular cage exhibits strong entropy‐driven encapsulation of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), accommodating up to four short‐chain guests as anionic aggregates. Guided by these molecular‐level insights, a novel host‐in‐host adsorbent is developed: mesoporous silica doped with 1 wt% cage achieves >98% removal of short‐ and long‐chain PFAS with full

Abstract This article examines the behavior of reinforced‐concrete pile caps on two piles under concentric and eccentric loading, with emphasis on the influence of horizontal and vertical supplementary reinforcement on load‐carrying capacity. Although the Strut‐and‐Tie method does not include this reinforcement in the internal equilibrium, it was found

Kinematic control for a quadruped robot using the Newton-Raphson method
The present work consisted of the implementation of a method for the solution of the inverse kinematic problem of a quadruped robot in four limbs with 3 degrees of freedom each.

ABSTRACT The degradation of metallic materials due to hydrogen embrittlement (HE) poses critical challenges for structural reliability. Phase‐field models offer an energy‐based approach that does not require predefined crack paths and automatically determines crack initiation, growth, and coalescence.

From gateway to value ladder—The curious case of online mutual aid in China
Abstract This study examines how InsurTech‐enabled information provision, specifically the disclosure of claimant information previously unavailable in conventional insurance, influences individuals' insurance uptake. We leverage Mutual Aid (MA) platforms as a natural context to examine how socially framed loss information, peer influence, and salience

A Novel Method for Numerical Simulation of Gradually Varied Flow Profile Based on Adaptive Newton Raphson method [PDF]
The basic equation of Gradually Varied Flow (GVF) describes the variation of water depth with flow process. Several methods have been developed for numerical solution of the water surface profile in GVF and one of the challenges of numerical integration ...
