Instabilities in Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids

Some naive thoughts provide a first insight into Newtonian cosmology. Olbers' paradox, introduced in Chapter 6 (6.7), suggests that the Universe is finite, either in space or in time, or both. If the Universe were finite in space and infinite in time, the whole Universe would have collapsed gravitationally.

The Physics of Newtonian Deformable Bodies: Newtonian Fluids
2019We could start this section by considering directly the connecting vector and derive all the results. However the average – certainly the new – reader is not familiar with this concept and would possibly think that all is a matter of mathematical exercise. For this reason we shall start with the traditional velocity picture which is familiar to all and

Analysis of Generalized Newtonian Fluids
2013In this paper we want to present an optimal existence result for the steady motion of generalized Newtonian fluids. Moreover, we present an optimal error estimate for a FEM approximation of the corresponding steady p-Stokes system. The presented results are based on long lasting cooperations with L. Berselli, L. Diening, J. Malek, A. Prohl and J. Wolf.
