Common mechanisms of physiological and pathological rupture events in biology: novel insights into mammalian ovulation and beyond

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 98, Issue 5, Page 1648-1667, October 2023., 2023
ABSTRACT Ovulation is a cyclical biological rupture event fundamental to fertilisation and endocrine function. During this process, the somatic support cells that surround the germ cell undergo a remodelling process that culminates in breakdown of the follicle wall and release of a mature egg.

Isopentenyltransferases as master regulators of crop performance: their function, manipulation, and genetic potential for stress adaptation and yield improvement

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 19, Issue 7, Page 1297-1313, July 2021., 2021
Summary Isopentenyltransferase (IPT) in plants regulates a rate‐limiting step of cytokinin (CTK) biosynthesis. IPTs are recognized as key regulators of CTK homeostasis and phytohormone crosstalk in both biotic and abiotic stress responses. Recent research has revealed the regulatory function of IPTs in gene expression and metabolite profiles including ...

Sublemma‐Based Neural Machine Translation

open access: yesComplexity, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Powerful deep learning approach frees us from feature engineering in many artificial intelligence tasks. The approach is able to extract efficient representations from the input data, if the data are large enough. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to collect large and quality data.

Diarylalkanoids as Potent Tyrosinase Inhibitors from the Stems of Semecarpus caudata

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
From a CHCl3‐soluble extract of the stems of Semecarpus caudata (Anacardiaceae), two new diarylalkanoids, semedienone (1) and semetrienone (2), were isolated. Their structures were elucidated based on NMR spectroscopic data interpretation. These compounds possess strong tyrosinase inhibitory activity with the IC50 values of 0.033 and 0.11 μM ...

Nrf2‐interacting nutrients and COVID‐19: time for research to develop adaptation strategies

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, Volume 10, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
Abstract There are large between‐ and within‐country variations in COVID‐19 death rates. Some very low death rate settings such as Eastern Asia, Central Europe, the Balkans and Africa have a common feature of eating large quantities of fermented foods whose intake is associated with the activation of the Nrf2 (Nuclear factor (erythroid‐derived 2)‐like ...

Site‐Selective Fluorination of Bathocuproine Derivatives for Enhanced Performance and Stability in Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 24, December 13, 2025.
Two fluorinated bathocuproine (BCP) derivatives, BCP‐m2F and BCP‐m4F, are developed beyond the reported BCP and BCP‐m1. Fluorination enables tuning of electronic structure, dipole orientation, and interfacial properties. BCP‐m4F forms uniform, conductive, and water‐repelling films superior to BCP‐m2F.
