Gompertz Law‐Based Biological Age (GOLD BioAge): A Simple and Practical Measurement of Biological Ageing to Capture Morbidity and Mortality Risks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Gompertz law‐based biological age metric (GOLD BioAge) introduces interpretable convenient and interpretable calculations to capture mortality, disease, and frailty risks. Its applications to proteomics and metabolomics (ProtAge and MetAge) demonstrate clinical potential to enhance aging evaluation and prevent age‐related diseases.

Associations of Muscle Mass and Strength with All-Cause Mortality among US Older Adults [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
INTRODUCTION: Recent studies suggested that muscle mass and muscle strength may independently or synergistically affect aging-related health outcomes in older adults; however, prospective data on mortality in the general population are sparse ...

The Prevalence of Anemia and Moderate-Severe Anemia in the US Population (NHANES 2003-2012)

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Since anemia is associated with poor health outcomes, the prevalence of anemia is a significant public health indicator. Even though anemia is primarily caused by iron deficiency, low oxygen-carrying capacity may result from other conditions such as ...

Enhanced Multitask Learning with Attention Sparse Routing Mechanism for Intelligent Diabetes Prediction

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The model leverages patient time‐space information for pattern feature representations. Encoders extract first and second‐order features, aggregated with categorical embeddings and dense features. Task‐specific and shared experts use gated networks, with a dispatch layer routing information for diabetes risk evaluation and blood glucose prediction ...

Self‐Administered Taste Testing Without Water: Normative Data for the 53‐Item Waterless Empirical Taste Test (WETT)

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), more than 20 million Americans suffer from chronic taste problems. Unfortunately, quantitative testing is rarely performed, self‐reports are inaccurate, and “taste” is often confused with olfaction‐dependent flavors.

Functional regression with intensively measured longitudinal outcomes: a new lens through data partitioning

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract Modern longitudinal data from wearable devices consist of biological signals at high‐frequency time points. Distributed statistical methods have emerged as a powerful tool to overcome the computational burden of estimation and inference with large data, but methodology for distributed functional regression remains limited.
