Fabrication of nanoporous Ni-based superalloy membranes
Acta Materialia, 2005Abstract Ni-based superalloys, containing significant quantities of the ordered γ′-phase for precipitation strengthening, are traditionally used as structural materials in high temperature applications. Here we show a new field of application where the self-assembly of the γ′-phase is utilized to produce nanoporous superalloy membranes with ...

Combined Cycle Fatigue of Ni-Base Superalloy
Key Engineering Materials, 2011Fatigue life of a cast Ni-base superalloy IN 713LC under combined cycle loading consisting of a superposition of low- and high-cycle fatigue at 800 °C was experimentally determined. No measurable effect of combined cycle was found for studied loading conditions.

Hydride formation in a Ni-base superalloy
Metallurgical Transactions A, 1981X-ray diffraction, optical- and scanning-electron metallographic and microhardness studies have been conducted in pure Ni and a Ni-base alloy (HASTELLOY Alloy C-276) in an effort to determine if hydrides form in the alloy during cathodic charging in the presence of a strong H-recombination poison. The studies indicate that hydrides do form and that the

Ni-base superalloy rods pulled from melts
Journal of Crystal Growth, 1997Abstract Rods of a Ni-base superalloy PWA-1480 were pulled in the [100] direction with a uniform diameter of 1.3 cm by using a floating-shaper with temperature control of the shaper aperture. The growth process was observed. The resultant dendritic microstructure was examined, including the primary dendrite spacing and the secondary dendrite arm ...

Quantitative microstructural characterisation of Ni-base superalloys
Materials Chemistry and Physics, 2003Abstract The Ni-base superalloy Waspaloy was investigated as candidate material for rotor and disc applications in steam turbines of the next generation. Quantitative metallography has been performed using various microscopic techniques. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) have been applied for a stereological ...

A thermodynamic database for Ni‐base superalloys
Scandinavian Journal of Metallurgy, 2001A thermodynamic database has been developed for Ni‐base superalloys. Following the CALPHAD procedure, it is based on the assessment of thermodynamic behaviour of the relevant constituting sub‐systems of the complex system of interest. The current database contains 7 elements: Al, Co, Cr, Ni, Ti, W, Re.

Thermal characterization of a Ni-based superalloy
Thermochimica Acta, 2002Abstract Ni-based superalloys are usually employed in industrial applications where good mechanical performance, corrosion and oxidation resistance at high temperatures is required. Samples collected from a gas turbine rotor blade were used in the present study.

Thermal stability of advanced Ni-base superalloys
Journal of Materials Science, 1994Exposures consisting of 1 to 900 h at 1000 and 1100 °C after an ageing treatment of 16 h at 870 °C were used to study the thermal stability of selected γ′-strengthened Ni-based superalloys representing conventional, directional solidification, and single-crystal castings.
