Effects of thiocyanate on Ni(Hg)/Ni(II) and Ni/Ni(II) electrode reactions

Summary Chronopotentiometric and stationary polarization measurements have been performed on mercury, nickel, and platinum electrodes in aqueous solutions of x M NiCl2+y M KSCN+(1−2x−y) M KCl at 25°C. Reaction products have been studied by electrochemical, radio-tracer, electron-microprobe, and X-ray diffraction techniques.

Adsorption of Ni(II) on clays

The present work investigates the adsorptive interactions of Ni(II) ions with kaolinite, montmorillonite, and their poly(oxo zirconium) and tetrabutylammonium derivatives in aqueous medium. Batch adsorption studies were carried out with various Ni(II) concentrations, amount of clay adsorbents, pH, agitation time and temperature.

Abstract The synthesis by Bruni and Levi, modified by Fackler and Coucouvanis, from aldehydes and ammonium polysulfide has been extended to aliphatic aldehydes, and perthiopivalate (CH 3 ) 3 CCSSS − has been prepared. This ligand forms 1:2 Zn(II) and Ni(II) complexes, analogous to the already known complex perthiobenzoates and perthio- p -toluates.
