Semantic Modeling in Materials Science and Engineering With Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology 3.0

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The community‐driven Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology (PMDco) 3.0 is introduced as a Basic Formal Ontology‐aligned semantic backbone for the processing–structure–properties paradigm in Materials Science and Engineering. Modular engineering, automated releases, and validation workflows are highlighted and key semantic patterns for materials ...

Catalytic Cracking of Crude Biodiesel into Biohydrocarbon Using Natural Zeolite Impregnated Nickel Oxide Catalyst

open access: yesJurnal Kimia Sains dan Aplikasi, 2021
Crude biodiesel is biodiesel that still contains impurities. A catalytic can improve the quality of biohydrocarbons (biogasoline, biokerosene, and green diesel). The catalyst used is nickel oxide impregnated natural zeolite (NiO/Zeolite).

Structures, Energetics and Reactions of Hydrocarbons on Nickel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
To better understand and improve reactive processes on nickel surfaces such as the catalytic steam reforming of hydrocarbons, the decomposition of hydrocarbons at fuel cell anodes, and the growth of carbon nanotubes, we have performed atomistic studies ...

A Multi‐Scale Machine Learning Framework for the Inverse Design of High Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy alloys offer vast potential for various applications, including electrocatalysis; however, their compositional complexity challenges conventional screening. We introduce an inverse‐design framework combining two neural networks to determine optimal compositions and reconstruct nanoparticle geometry from targeted properties and conventional

Inhibiting the Laydown of Polymeric Carbon and Simultaneously Promoting Its Facile Burn-Off during the Industrial-Scale Production of Hydrogen with Nickel-Based Catalysts: Insights from Ab Initio Calculations

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
This paper presents a computational study of the mechanistic models for the laydown of carbon species on nickel surface facets and the burn-off models for their gasification mechanism in methane steam reforming based on density functional theory ...

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Methanation of Syngas in a Three-Stage Serial Reactor System Using a Set of Nickel-Based Catalysts

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry
A set of nickel-based catalysts was designed for testing its performance of methanation of synthesis gas (syngas) in a three-stage, fixed-bed reactors-in-series system.

Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.

The Effect Of Catalyst Support On The Decomposition Of Methane To Hydrogen And Carbon. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Decomposition of methane into carbon and hydrogen over Cu/Ni supported catalysts was investigated. The catalytic activities and the lifetimes of the catalysts were studied. Cu/Ni supported on Ti02 showed high activity and long lifetime for the reaction.
