Applications of Nickel-Titanium Alloy

Nitinol has various applications in biomedical, automotive actuators, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMSs) and aero-space industries due to its distinctive properties of pseudo-elasticity, bio-compatibility, corrosion resistance and shape memory effect.

The results of studies of the processes of formation of coatings based on titanium nickelides during diffusion annealing of titanium at a temperature of 750...850 °C with a chemical nickel coating are presented. The kinetics of transformation of a nickel layer on titanium into an intermetallic coating based on titanium nickelides is shown.

Spinodal decomposition in nickel based nickel-titanium allols

It was found that the supersaturated solid solution of Ti in Ni decomposes bl the spinodal mechanism into periodic and aligned regions lhich are Ti rich and Ti lean.

1963Abstract : The purpose of this project was to determine the machining characteristics of the ductile in termetallic compound NiTi alloys. This was accomplished by conducting tool life tests in turning, face milling and tapping these alloys. In addition, grinding tests were also made.
