Transient Transactivation Studies in Nicotiana benthamiana Leaves
2018Transitory gene expression systems in Nicotiana benthamiana leaves, in combination with the use of gene silencing suppressors as the p19 or HC-pro proteins that allow for elevated levels of gene expression, have proven to be a highly versatile tool to analyze transcriptional function of DNA binding factors in the activated or repressed expression of ...

Analysis of RNA Silencing in Agroinfiltrated Leaves of Nicotiana Benthamiana and Nicotiana Tabacum
Plant Molecular Biology, 2005In this study we analyse several aspects of cytoplasmic RNA silencing by agroinfiltration of DNA constructs encoding single- and double-stranded RNAs derived from a GFP transgene and from the endogenous Virp1 gene. Both types of inductors resulted after 2-4 days in much higher concentration of siRNAs in the agroinfiltrated zone than normally seen ...

Stable Plastid Transformation in Nicotiana benthamiana
Journal of Plant Biology, 2009Plastids from Nicotiana benthamiana were transformed with the vector for dicistronic expression of two genes—aminoglycoside 3'-adenyltransferase (aadA) and green fluorescent protein (gfp)—in the plastids of Nicotiana tabacum. Transplastomic shoots exhibited green fluorescence under UV light.

EFFECT OF TMV ON NICOTIANA BENTHAMIANA
МИКРОБИОЛОГИЯ ЖӘНЕ ВИРУСОЛОГИЯTobacco mosaic virus (TMV) and its host plant Nicotiana benthamiana represent one of the most studied and fundamental pathosystems in phytovirology. This review article synthesizes current knowledge about the multilevel interactions between this virus and the plant.

Engineering montbretin A biosynthesis in Nicotiana benthamiana
2021The plant kingdom has always been a useful source of therapeutic molecules for humans. Montbretin A (MbA) is a complex acylated flavonol glycoside found in the underground storage organs, called corms, of the ornamental plant montbretia (Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora). MbA was discovered as a highly efficient and specific inhibitor of the human pancreatic

Metabolic engineering of Nicotiana benthamiana for the increased production of taxadiene
Plant Cell Reports, 2014We report the production of taxadiene by transformation of N. benthamiana with a taxadiene synthase gene. The production was significantly increased by an elicitor treatment or metabolic pathway shunting. Paclitaxel (Taxol(®)) was first isolated from the bark of the pacific yew tree as an anticancer agent and has been used extensively to treat various ...

Isolation and Transfection of Nicotiana benthamiana Mesophyll Protoplasts
Protoplasts, being plant cells without cell walls, can efficiently uptake large macromolecules such as DNA, RNA, and proteins. This feature makes them exceptionally effective for transient gene expression experiments. This chapter provides a detailed protocol for the efficient isolation of mesophyll protoplasts from the model plant Nicotiana ...Julius Jeyaprakasam, Jebasingh Tennyson

High-level expression of Camelid nanobodies in Nicotiana benthamiana
Transgenic Research, 2009Nanobodies (or VHHs) are single-domain antigen-binding fragments derived from Camelid heavy chain-only antibodies. Their small size, monomeric behaviour, high stability and solubility, and ability to bind epitopes not accessible to conventional antibodies make them especially suitable for many therapeutic and biotechnological applications.

Set of vectors has been created for plastome transformation of plants of Nicotiana genera. These constructs possess esxA and fbpB genes combined with selective aadA gene which are expressed polycistronicly under control of psbA gene. Over 30 antibiotic resistant lines have been selected in the course of N. benthamiana plastome transformation and a part
