Nicotiana (Nicotiana tobaccum, Nicotiana benthamiana).
Methods in molecular biology (Clifton, N.J.), 2006Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of Nicotiana species, namely, Nicotiana tobaccum and Nicotiana benthamiana, using leaf disks as the target explant has provided the plant community with a valuable tool for rapid evaluation of transgenes in higher plants.

Reconstitution of Metabolic Pathway in Nicotiana benthamiana
2021Reconstitution of metabolite biosynthesis pathway plays a pivotal role in functional characterization of biosynthesis enzymes and metabolite bioengineering. Traditionally, metabolic pathways are reconstituted in bacteria or yeast due to their ease for genetic manipulation and transformation.

Transient Transactivation Studies in Nicotiana benthamiana Leaves
2018Transitory gene expression systems in Nicotiana benthamiana leaves, in combination with the use of gene silencing suppressors as the p19 or HC-pro proteins that allow for elevated levels of gene expression, have proven to be a highly versatile tool to analyze transcriptional function of DNA binding factors in the activated or repressed expression of ...

Stable Plastid Transformation in Nicotiana benthamiana
Journal of Plant Biology, 2009Plastids from Nicotiana benthamiana were transformed with the vector for dicistronic expression of two genes—aminoglycoside 3'-adenyltransferase (aadA) and green fluorescent protein (gfp)—in the plastids of Nicotiana tabacum. Transplastomic shoots exhibited green fluorescence under UV light.

Targeted Insertion in Nicotiana benthamiana Genomes via Protoplast Regeneration
2023Insertion of a specific sequence in a targeted region for precise editing is still a major challenge in plants. Current protocols rely on inefficient homology-directed repair or non-homologous end-joining with modified double-stranded oligodeoxyribonucleotides (dsODNs) as donors.

Engineering montbretin A biosynthesis in Nicotiana benthamiana
2021The plant kingdom has always been a useful source of therapeutic molecules for humans. Montbretin A (MbA) is a complex acylated flavonol glycoside found in the underground storage organs, called corms, of the ornamental plant montbretia (Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora). MbA was discovered as a highly efficient and specific inhibitor of the human pancreatic

Characterization of in vivo functions of Nicotiana benthamiana RabE1
Planta, 2012We characterized the gene expression, subcellular localization, and in vivo functions of a Nicotiana benthamiana small GTPase belonging to the RabE family, designated NbRabE1. The NbRabE1 promoter drove strong β-glucuronidase reporter expression in young tissues containing actively dividing cells and in stomata guard cells.

Aims. The use of plants as a recombinant peptides expression system is a valuable alternative for the production of collagen for various medical and scientific purposes. The aim of this work was to obtained transgenic plants of Nicotiana benthamiana with two human genes encoding subunits of prolyl-4-hydroxylase (P4H), responsible for key ...

Set of vectors has been created for plastome transformation of plants of Nicotiana genera. These constructs possess esxA and fbpB genes combined with selective aadA gene which are expressed polycistronicly under control of psbA gene. Over 30 antibiotic resistant lines have been selected in the course of N. benthamiana plastome transformation and a part
